Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Supervisor, Application & Integration Solutions, the Software Developer 2 provides analysis and design services to projects, and leads development of software solutions. The Software Developer 2 also facilitates the quality assurance and solution testing processes for a project based on organizational standards to ensure quality deliverables. Major duties will include: analysis and requirements development; data mapping; solution design; development; reviewing and unit testing; development of solution documentation; development and execution of data translation strategies; development of interfaces; and development of operational support processes and tools including operational documentation.

Experience
  • Experience (3+ years) as a developer in a team environment.
  • Experience as a lead developer in a team development environment is an asset.
  • Experience with solution analysis, architecture, design, development, and testing.
  • Experience with MLLP HL7 interface development is an asset.
  • Experience with web service interface development standards such as SOAP/REST is an asset.
  • Experience with analysis and design using UML is an asset.
  • Experience with eSQL, Java, T-SQL, PL/SQL, and bash scripting is an asset.
  • Experience administering and monitoring an IBM MQ service is an asset.
  • Previous ESB related development experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Object Oriented programming languages and techniques.
  • Knowledge of and experience with relational database design.
  • Understanding of health care, particularly within the WRHA and Province of Manitoba, is an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Undergraduate degree and/or diploma in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Certification/training related to IBM Integration Bus is an asset.
  • Certification/training related to IBM DataPower is an asset.
  • Certification in Java is an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly written required.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Demonstrated analytical and conceptual abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt readily to a changing environment and be able to work in a development team.
