POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager - Legal Operations & Compliance plays a critical role in overseeing legal operations, regulatory, and compliance functions within the business. This role ensures adherence to industry regulations, streamlines legal operations, and supports product development while mitigating legal and compliance risks. The position requires strong leadership, regulatory expertise, and operational acumen to collaborate across departments and drive strategic legal initiatives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Regulatory & Product Management Oversight

  • Provide guidance on insurance product development, policy language, and regulatory filings.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving insurance laws and regulations to ensure compliance in product design and distribution.
  • Collaborate with product teams to address risks and regulatory requirements in new offerings.
  • Liaise with state and federal regulators, ensuring timely filings, approvals, and compliance with market conduct requirements.

Legal Operations Management

  • Develop and implement legal operational strategies to optimize efficiency, workflows, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee contract management and legal technology solutions.
  • Streamline processes to enhance collaboration between legal, compliance, and business units.
  • Manage department budgets and performance metrics for legal service providers.

Compliance Management

  • Lead compliance programs to align with state, federal, and international insurance regulations.
  • Oversee risk assessments, audits, and internal investigations to identify and address compliance gaps.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure regulatory adherence across the organization.
  • Collaborate with risk and internal audit teams to implement effective compliance controls.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of SERFF filing application.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in the insurance industry, specifically with regulatory analysis and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to insurance licensing, TPA licensing, rate filings, and reporting.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and recommend solutions
  • Understanding of commercial insurance products and has the willingness to learn about new insurance developments, trends, and products. 
  • Ability to present to external parties in a pleasant, professional manner and enhance the appeal and reputation of the organization as a knowledgeable and service-oriented organization.
  • Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SalesForce.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage deadlines independently and within a team environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is located in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and requires the physical demands of a normal office position with some light lifting. This is a full-time position with benefits.
