Job Description:

We are seeking a Federal UX Architect to enhance digital services for a federal customer. This role focuses on creating accessible, user-friendly interfaces that comply with federal accessibility standards and best practices. The ideal candidate will have experience with human-centered design, accessibility compliance, and front-end performance optimization.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Develop responsive, accessible front-end components using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js)  

  • Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1+, Section 508, and plain language best practices  

  • Conduct automatic and manual accessibility testing to identify and remediate issues  

  • Optimize front-end performance for cloud-based applications  

  • Implement US Web Design System (USWDS) components for consistent, user-friendly experiences  

  • Collaborate with UI designers, back-end developers, and accessibility experts  

  • Work within agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) to deliver iterative improvements  

  • Create wireframes and implement strategies to advocate for business requirements and user needs

  • Perform user experience research and make innovation recommendations

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field is required at a minimum.

  • Degree in HCI or UX with emphasis on design and front-end development is highly desired.

  • 7+ years of front-end development experience with a focus on accessibility and usability  

  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks and state management libraries  

  • Strong knowledge of ARIA, screen readers, and accessibility auditing tools (Axe, JAWS, WAVE, Lighthouse)  

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks  helpful but not required

  • US Web Design System (USWDS) experience is a plus  

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Fully remote from anywhere in the continental United States, with occasional in-person meetings in Washington, D.C. 

  • Schedule is based on Eastern Time Monday through Friday with Holidays off

This job is for a federal government contract proposal that is expected to be awarded in June 2025

The likely salary range for this position is $128,666 - $174,078. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
