Job description

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to support our rapidly expanding organization. This individual will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, manage financial reporting for consolidated and subsidiary entities, and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, experience with ERP systems and a “roll up your sleeves” mentality. 

This position will report to the Director of Accounting & Reporting and will be integral in scaling our accounting function to meet the demands of a high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities 

Financial Close & Consolidations 

  • Lead and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements for multiple entities.
  • Perform high-level reviews of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or variances.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and eliminations to produce consolidated financial results.

Financial Reporting & Analysis 

  • Responsible for the variance and flux analysis, board-level decks, and management reports (including narratives and charts/graphs).
  • Provide meaningful insights and recommendations to the Director of Accounting & Reporting and executive leadership regarding financial trends and performance.
  • Provide analytical trends, including multi-year planning; budgeting; forecasting.

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team members, fostering professional growth and continuous learning.
  • Ensure the accounting team maintains high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration.

Internal Controls & Compliance 

  • Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit requests promptly.
  • Proactively identify and address any control gaps or risks in the accounting processes.

Policy & Process Improvement 

  • Draft, update, and enforce accounting policies and procedures, aligning with industry best practices and the organization’s growth strategy.
  • Collaborate with IT, procurement, and other cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and maintain data integrity.
  • Lead or support ERP system implementations and enhancements, ensuring seamless integration with existing finance processes.

Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives 

  • Partner with the Director of Accounting & Reporting on strategic initiatives, including new entity integrations, cost allocation implementation, multi-entity establishment, systemization and automation of accounting functionalities. 
  • Participate in ad hoc financial projects and provide leadership in resolving complex accounting issues.
  • Champion a continuous improvement mindset, driving automation and data analytics within the accounting function.

Skills & Competencies 

  • Demonstrated expertise in GAAP, consolidations, and multi-entity accounting.
  • Proven track record managing or leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • ERP implementation or significant ERP experience (Workday, SAP, NetSuite, or similar) highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex financial data in a concise, meaningful way.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A “roll up your sleeves” mentality—willing to dive into details while maintaining a strategic perspective.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Highly collaborative, with a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to changing organizational needs.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory/management responsibilities.
  • Professional certifications (CPA, CMA) a plus.

Compensation & Other Information 

  • Location: Fully Remote
  • Compensation: based on a variety of factors in accordance with applicable law, including the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits, life insurance, retirement, and paid time off.
