Finance Manager

Fragment Media Group (FMG) is a pioneer of the member media model. Our brands, including the Daily Dot, Nautilus, and Passionfruit identify underserved audiences and provide them with the intentional content that readers seek out—to read, watch, listen to, and experience live.

We’re seeking a team member to join our operations team and help manage our finances across our different properties. This position will work closely with leadership from each entity and report directly to the VP of Operations and work alongside her and the CEO.

Fully remote with headquarters in Austin, Texas

Roles and Responsibilities

• Maintain financial books via Quickbooks Online - this includes day-today financial transactions with plenty of automation.
• Manages Accounts Receivable (AR) and invoicing processes.
• Manages Accounts Payable (AP)  functions.
• Runs payroll and freelancer payments.
• Reconciles bank accounts and entries at the end of each month.
• Maintains intercompany transactions between FMG entities.
• Provides monthly P&L and ad-hoc financial reports upon request.
• Oversees monthly close process and documentation.
• Supports company budget process with VP of Operations.
• Evaluates tools/processes for improvement and implements changes to tools/processes as necessary.
• Serves as liaison between bank, accountants, payroll provider, auditors, etc. and provides reports and documentation as necessary.

What We’re Looking For

• You have at least 1-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
• You’re a critical thinker and am somewhat obsessive over details. 
• You have a working knowledge of payroll software (we use Rippling).
• You’re comfortable with Google Docs, spreadsheets, and other productivity tools.
• You can handle confidential information.
• You’re cool with working as a part of a virtual team.
• You understand financial statements (P&Ls and Balance Sheets).
• Most importantly - you’re willing to learn, excited to try new things, and interested in continually improving.
