Event Producer/Events Manager to join our team in Portugal will amongst other be responsible for delivery of one of the largest European events, IDC Directions, attracting 1.000+ attendees and 50+ partners each year. Further to that, successful candidate will develop and implement IDC’s events strategy in Portugal and will have the skills and experience to build the value proposition of each IDC event project and authoritatively communicate and promote the event to all internal and external stakeholders. This position implies people management skills and has P&L management responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Holding overall responsibility for the successful achievement of sales, revenue and profit target for IDC Portugal events with special attention on the customer’s long-term satisfaction. Leading the process of annual event planning based on feasibility assessment (taking into account competition, validity of proposed topics and viability for sponsorship opportunities). Creating and managing budgets and maximize the return on investment. Leading a small local team who will execute these event plans.
- Creating a compelling creative vision to motivate and point the event business unit forward, build relationships and partnerships within and out of the organization by making clear and decisive decisions. Author compelling individual event concepts and managing the production of all aspects of how the events are positioned and communicated. Creating comprehensive events briefing including highlights of current issues facing the industry, how the events will address these issues and who potential speakers and partners (i.e., associations) should be. Researching competitive events to identify their strengths and weaknesses by ensuring high levels of market information capture and feed back to internal stakeholders.
- Identifying potential sponsors, assisting with pre-sales activities and/or direct sales where needed to maximize sponsorships for each event.
- Assuring events are attended in the planned quantity and quality; pro-actively managing recruitment techniques to achieve the plan.
- Demonstrating a clear understanding of the issues and opinions expressed by opinion leaders in the field of each event topic. Planing and organizing optimal event content coverage involving internal and external stakeholders and developing this into detailed and compelling agendas. Identifying and recruiting end user speakers & panelists. Organizing and running meetings with CIOs, line-of-business leaders, senior heads of IT and ICT vendors, start-ups, and other organizations to gain relevant insights for individual events. Managing and implementing plan for establishing alliances for each conference with industry associations, government affiliations and others.
- Developing, managing, and implementing marketing and project plan for each event and marketing strategy for all IDC events in cooperation with internal recruitment team. Overseeing and acting as major contributor to the development of all copyright material for IDC events, including texts for marketing and sales support materials (proposals, speaker invitations, SoMe posts, websites, invitations, campaigns, etc.).
Qualifications:
The Successful candidate will be an experienced professional demonstrating high competence levels in the following areas:
- A track record in producing profitable Business-to-Business event projects, ideally in IT industry
- Senior manager with 8+ years of experience in event production, 3+ years in P/L management
- High level of collaborative skills: team leadership, project management
- Evidence of excellent communication and negotiation skills (visual, verbal, written)
- Strong editing/copy writing skills (writing samples will be required)
- Experience in managing multiple projects at once and to work with cost, timeline, and quality targets.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently in a matrix business environment (ideally an international business environment)
- Passion for new technologies, innovations, connecting people, and seeking new business opportunities
- Comprehensive understanding of content and digital marketing across multiple mediums; proven track record of building digital marketing campaigns
- Excellent written and spoken Portuguese and English.
