Job description

Job Title: Taxonomy Programme Coordinator

Location: Remote - based in UK or Europe

Department: Taxonomy

Position reports to: Head of Taxonomies

Salary: £35,000

Climate Bonds Initiative is an investor-focused NGO working to mobilise the $100 trillion global bond market for climate change solutions. We promote investment in projects and assets necessary for a rapid transition to a low carbon and climate resilient economy.

Our main workstreams are green bond standards and certification, data and market analysis, policy and market development, communications and advocacy.

Purpose:

This role will coordinate the work of the Taxonomy Team in tracking, organising and prioritising its projects and deliverables internally and externally. Projects include technical taxonomy development, review and implementation support for government and other institutions around the world including ASEAN, Europe and Asia Pacific.

It will suit a specialist with proficient knowledge of programme management and delivery as well as some technical knowledge of climate finance and taxonomies. This role is specifically tailored for an individual who would like to gain and to build knowledge on how to structure taxonomies, their components, learn about decarbonisation pathways and transition. They will be expected to learn about the different components of taxonomies including Technical Screening Criteria, Do No Significant Harm and Minimum Social Safeguards.

The position is key for the success of the Taxonomy Team and is intended for an individual who wishes to progress in terms of level of responsibility within Team.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Head of Taxonomies to prioritise work, proposals and resources for the taxonomy team
  • Put together project plans for all major projects to outline key milestones and timelines
  • Liaise with other Teams within the Climate Bonds Initiative, project partners and external stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of projects
  • Coordinate the Team’s weekly calls, help put together its agenda, and chair the call when needed
  • Put together project updates, take note of technical meetings, summarise them in a comprehensible way and support the preparation of presentations
  • Manage the Climate Bonds Taxonomy spreadsheet to make sure it is kept up-to-date with all the relevant information required by the Team. This will also involve conducting research, contacting relevant stakeholders and summarising information in a succinct way
  • Work with team and Head of Taxonomies to update and maintain project management system ClickUp – the project management system used by the Climate Bonds Initiative
  • Work with Head of Taxonomies on strategy and direction of team to ensure resources are sufficient to meet demand
  • Work with the Programme Assurance and Learning Team to coordinate budgets and the Taxonomy Team’s documents related to its Project Development Framework
  • Provide input into technical discussions and proposals
  • Opportunity to have input into technical deliverables is desired – the Programme Coordinator will be provided with the chance to build technical expertise in the area of Taxonomies by supporting the work of Senior Analysts and Taxonomy Managers

Requirements

Essential:

  • University degree in a relevant subject or equivalent
  • Experience in project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience in working with a team with a multi-cultural background and across time zones
  • Very good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Very good working knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in close collaboration with team members

Desirable:

  • Some experience in sustainability or climate change
  • Basic knowledge of green and sustainable finance taxonomy developments around the world
  • Experience and knowledge of financial markets and investing
  • Ability to work in other languages such as Chinese, French and Spanish
