The Opportunity:

Our client, a government agency in Tallahassee, FL, is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst to support mission-critical financial applications and business processes. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in system development, maintenance, and optimization of large-scale, cross-functional applications. This role requires expertise in CA Gen, COBOL, DB2, Oracle, and financial business processes.

The selected candidate will work within the Office of Information Technology, collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders to analyze business functions, implement system enhancements, and ensure robust solutions.

Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:
  • Serve as a lead developer and subject matter expert on applications handling complex financial business processes.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for new code and software integrations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze, document, and optimize business workflows.
  • Develop and maintain applications leveraging CA Gen, COBOL, Classic ASP, DB2 for z/OS, and Oracle databases.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve system issues using SQL and debugging tools.
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
  • Work in an Agile development environment, participating in roadmap planning and process standardization.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices and security guidelines.
Location
This is an on-site position. Candidates must be located in or near, or willing to re-locate to, Tallahassee, Florida.  
Compensation and Term:
This is a full-time, contract position with potential extensions. Compensation varies with experience, up to $120,000. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance are available after 30 days of hire.
Qualifications You Need:
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Communication or other related field.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a lead developer or development manager.
  • A minimum of five (5) years working with CA Gen, COBOL, Classic ASP, and DB2 for z/OS or Oracle.
  • Strong SQL proficiency and relational database experience.
  • Expertise in Active Server Pages (Classic ASP), VBScript, and J-script.
  • Knowledge of IBM Z-Server, CICS, JCL.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio/.NET (preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into business terms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team.
