Job description

JoomPro is a first end-to-end cross-border B2B marketplace. We aspire to create a new level of service in the wholesale purchasing market and give everyone, anywhere in the world, the opportunity to easily and efficiently order goods from factories in China, with plans to include India, Bangladesh, Turkey, and others in the future.

JoomPro is one of the key businesses of Joom, an international group of e-commerce companies founded in 2016 in Latvia. Joom also includes other businesses: Joom Marketplace, a platform for global shopping; Onfy, a pharmaceutical marketplace in Germany; and Joom Pulse, a data platform that provides analytics and recommendations for marketplace sellers. Joom has offices in Latvia, China, Hong Kong, the USA, Germany, Brazil, and Portugal, with its headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal.

Now we are looking for a Head of Customs and Logistics for our operations in Mexico. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in customs processes, logistics management, and the nuances of Mexican import regulations. This role requires a professional who can not only oversee the end-to-end customs clearance and logistics functions but also develop strategic plans to optimize processes and reduce costs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear direction on logistics and customs processes, ensuring alignment with company objectives
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of import activities
  • Manage all aspects of customs clearance, including direct and indirect imports
  • Navigate complex import regulations to minimize delays and avoid compliance issues
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the import processes, both theoretically and practically
  • Identify and establish partnerships with logistics and customs service providers
  • Create a team of customs and logistics professionals in Mexico. Provide guidance, set performance expectations, and manage the budget to achieve departmental goals
  • Work closely with trading companies and partners to ensure effective coordination of shipments, while maintaining compliance and validating processes

Requirements

  • Proven experience in customs and logistics management within Mexico
  • Strong understanding of both direct and indirect import processes and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external partners
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to problem-solving
  • Familiarity with a broad network of customs and logistics service providers in Mexico
