Job description

Playstack is a leading publisher of PC & console indie games. We’re looking for engineers for short-term, full-time contract work to help one of our development partners with the narrative-focused rhythm adventure game, UNBEATABLE.

You’ll be helping the team ensure stability, bug fixing, and polish are a part of every step of the project. The ideal candidate is a developer who is quick to adapt to an expanding codebase and can quickly diagnose problems that’ll impact the final quality of the game, allowing the rest of the team can focus on content creation and implementation. Clear communication with the engineering team, and the ability to problem solve and cut through inefficiencies are are the skills we need the most as we’re hurdling towards the finish line for this project!

    What we’re looking for…
    • Significant experience with Unity
    • Deep knowledge of C# as well as Unity’s extended toolset
    • 3D math skills (math skills, in general!)
    • Shipped at least one real-time 3D game, action game, or rhythm game.
    • Past experience with debugging and analyzing root causes of bugs.
    • Optimally
      • Experience with graphics programming (shader languages, visual scripting, or general concepts).
      • Experience with source control software, FMOD, and Yarn Spinner.
    You Are
    • A problem solver and critical thinker; you know how to track down causes and work through ambiguity to provide solutions
    • Experienced working on large teams (10+ developers)
    • Able to demonstrate your expertise with Unity and C# with examples of major features built, significant performance improvements made or gnarly bugs that you have fixed!
    • Someone who is able to provide help to other engineers while also being willing to ask for help when needed
    • Comfortable presenting work consistently at weekly check-ins.
    • A self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
    • Available immediately or on short notice
    • Able to commit to full time hours with significant US East Coast Time overlap
    What We Offer

    This is a fully remote, contractual position with hourly pay. You do not need to live in the United States, but we will require you to overlap a significant percentage of your hours with the teams due to the nature of the work. We are willing to accommodate scheduling based on your region and time-zone. The team communicates primarily in English.
