As we scale our development team, we are looking for a Technical Lead who can drive technical excellence, streamline development workflows, and ensure that our software continues to be robust, scalable, and maintainable.

Role Overview

The Technical Lead at LilYPad POS is responsible for breaking down high-level software development plans into clear, actionable tasks for the development team. This role ensures modern development standards are followed, maintains technical consistency, and reduces the need for micromanagement by structuring work effectively. The ideal candidate will be highly experienced in Laravel & React, with a strong understanding of software architecture, API design, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Direction & Execution

  • Translate business and product goals into well-defined technical plans and execution strategies.
  • Guide the development team in building scalable, maintainable, and high-performance solutions using Laravel & React.
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure software initiatives align with company objectives and customer needs.
  • Evaluate new technologies and tools that can enhance our development process and system performance.

Task Breakdown & Developer Coordination

  • Define clear project scopes, workflows, and modular components for new and existing features.
  • Ensure developers receive structured, well-documented tasks with defined expectations.
  • Support the team in understanding industry-specific challenges and optimizing decision-making for better software solutions.
  • Prioritize development tasks based on business impact, technical feasibility, and customer feedback.

Code Quality & Best Practices

  • Establish modern coding standards, API design principles, and security best practices.
  • Provide technical oversight to ensure maintainability, scalability, and performance across the codebase.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and technical debt, continuously improving the development process.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure consistency, reliability, and adherence to best practices.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Work closely with QA and Support teams to ensure that new features are thoroughly tested and function properly for customers.
  • Improve developer onboarding and internal documentation to accelerate new team members' productivity.
  • Act as a technical mentor for the development team, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Ensure that cross-functional teams (Support, QA, Product) have visibility into technical decisions that impact customer experience.

Key Deliverables

  • Development team can work independently with minimal clarification.
  • Features are implemented without introducing instability, improving overall software reliability.
  • Structured development process that reduces friction, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies.
  • Well-documented and maintainable codebase that allows for scalability and future growth.
  • Strong communication between development and other departments, ensuring alignment on technical priorities.
