As a System Administrator, your primary duties are to maintain and support customers' IT infrastructure. This role involves creating documentation, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware and software, ensuring the security and efficiency of IT systems, and providing escalation technical support to the helpdesk and/or end-users. 

 

What you’ll be doing 

 

Installation and Configuration: 

  • Set up and configure software, hardware, and network systems. 

  • Manage and support virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware. 

  • Administer and support both Windows and Linux servers. 

  • Manage and support Microsoft 365 environments and Microsoft Entra (Azure AD). 

System Monitoring and Maintenance: 

  • Regularly monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation. 

  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as updates, backups, and system upgrades. 

  • Utilize ConnectWise Automate for system monitoring and management (beneficial experience). 

User Support: 

  • Provide the helpdesk with escalation technical support and resolve IT-related issues promptly. 

  • Provide IT support tailored to the needs of higher education institutions (beneficial experience). 

Documentation: 

  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and SOPs. 

Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with the team and other departments to support technology initiatives and projects. 

Active Directory Management: 

  • Maintain and troubleshoot Active Directory environments. 

 

 

What you’ll bring 

 

Experience: 

  • Previous experience in a similar role or relevant internships (2-3 years+). 

Skills: 

  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 

  • Dependability and flexibility, being on-call or available outside of regular work hours. 

  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Hyper-V, and VMware. 

  • Experience with Windows and Linux server administration. 

  • Experience managing Microsoft 365 environments and Microsoft Entra (Azure AD). 

  • Experience with ticketing and RMM tools (e.g., ServiceNOW, ConnectWise toolsets, etc). 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

  • Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), network management, and common IT tools. 

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team. 

Education/Certifications: 

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, and/or industry-recognized certifications such as A+, Network+, Server+, MCSA, MCP, etc. 

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • Firewall and intrusion detection/prevention protocols. 

  • TCP/IP, computer networking, routing, and switching. 

  • Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, OCI). 

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, TF).

  • Works well with others to achieve common goals and support technology initiatives, showing a willingness to learn from more experienced colleagues. 

Adaptability: 

  • Adjusts to changing environments and remains flexible in the face of challenges, demonstrating a proactive approach to learning and development. 

Customer Focus: 

  • Prioritizes user needs and provides timely, effective solutions to IT-related problems, with a focus on delivering high-quality service. 

Working Conditions: 

  • This is a remote, WFH position with occasional requirements to work outside regular hours for system maintenance or emergencies and on-call rotation.
