As a Sales Commission Consultant, you will serve as a strategic partner to Sales, Finance, and Business Unit leaders, providing consultative expertise in designing and administering sales commission plans. You will leverage data-driven insights to optimize commission structures, ensure compliance, and drive alignment across stakeholders. In addition to owning commission calculations and issue resolution, you will be responsible for the administration of the Salesforce commission tool and managing SPIFF programs to enhance sales performance. This role requires a proactive approach in problem-solving, process improvement, and automation while ensuring commission programs align with business objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with Sales and Finance leadership to develop and refine commission plans that drive desired business outcomes.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations on quotas, accelerators, and short-term incentive structures to maximize sales performance and retention.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor in commission-related matters, offering guidance on best practices, industry benchmarks, and compliance considerations.
  • Conduct regular plan effectiveness analyses, making recommendations for plan adjustments to optimize business impact.
  • Administer the Spiff (a Salesforce product), ensuring accurate plan setup, system integrity, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Own end-to-end commission processing, including calculation, validation, and auditing to ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Provide structured reporting to Finance for commission accruals, forecasting, and payout validation.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards that provide real-time visibility into commission performance and trends.
  • Create informative reports and dashboards to track sales performance and commission payout trends.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for commission-related inquiries, ensuring prompt resolution of disputes and discrepancies.
  • Ensure commission plans adhere to legal, regulatory, and company compliance standards while maintaining documentation for audit readiness.
  • Design, implement, and track short term incentive programs to drive specific sales behaviors and business objectives.
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of short-term incentives, making recommendations for future program enhancements.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, including Excel, Salesforce, Power BI, or similar CRM software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with sales representatives and cross-functional teams.
  • A sharp eye for detail to ensure accuracy in commission calculations and documentation.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve commission-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Strong analytical skills to extract insights from sales data and recommend improvements.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and evolving sales strategies.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in compensation administration.
  • Strong project management skills, ensuring commission processes and payments align with deadlines.
  • Results-oriented, self-starter, organized, team-focused, and a strong work ethic, leveraging relationships to ensure deadlines are met.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Sales Compensation, Sales Operations, or Finance, preferably in a growth-oriented technology company.
  • Familiarity with commission management software is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of relevant labor laws and regulations related to compensation is beneficial.
