The successful candidate will have:

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
  • The ability to cope well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills, with excellent planning and project coordination skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The drive and diligence to perform the research and coordination necessary to support the goals of a growing and ambitious media company.
  • Ideally, but not essentially, experience in legal research.
  • An ability to work in the mid shift (Monday to Friday, 4pm to 1am).

 

The role involves:

  • Identifying different sections of a court document.
  • Distilling court documents utilizing AI tools to create court summaries.
  • Cross-checking output for accuracy.
  • Scanning external resources daily for new information.
  • Conducting external outreach via email to confirm with firms and organizations which parties/individuals are working on what deals/cases.
  • Keeping records updated and close cases as required.
  • Working collaboratively within a team of journalists and editors.
  • Entering information about business deals and transactions into a deals database – keeping information accurate and up to date.
  • Covering topics including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and capital markets transactions across North America.
