Adjunct Faculty-Remote- Single Subject Credential Program – Visual and Performing Arts

Position Overview:

Adjunct faculty within the University of Massachusetts Global’s School of Education play a vital role in delivering high-quality, student-centered instruction in an online learning environment. They bring real-world expertise and a commitment to fostering academic excellence for future educators and leaders. Adjunct instructors must be willing to engage with faculty, students, and other stakeholders to ensure well-rounded, rigorous learning experiences that offer students the highest levels of support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsibility 1: Teaching duties, mentoring, or supervising students.
• Responsibility 2: Preparing and delivering course content or assessments.
• Responsibility 3: Collaborating with faculty or staff for curriculum planning.
• Responsibility 4: Utilizing specific technologies or tools (e.g., LMS, video platforms).
• Responsibility 5: Attending required meetings, training, or development sessions.
• Responsibility 6: Guiding and coaching students through fieldwork experiences.
• Responsibility 7: Supporting students with state-required assessments.

Location Policy:

Applicants from the following states will receive first consideration:

Remote work from any of the following states – Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree or higher in Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), Education, or any VAPA related field.
• CA Single Subject Credential or CA Administrative Credential.
• Minimum 5 years teaching experience in a California middle school or high school.
• Experience teaching a VAPA subject in middle school or high school

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred Qualification 1: Doctoral degree in education or an educational related field.
• Preferred Qualification 2: Trained assessor of or extensive knowledge of CalTPAs.
• Preferred Qualification 3: Experience mentoring or supervising students or candidates.

Work Environment:

A remote adjunct work environment is a flexible, virtual setting where instructors deliver course content, engage with students, and fulfill academic responsibilities from a remote location. This environment typically relies on digital communication tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual collaboration platforms to facilitate teaching and interaction

Compensation:

The following salary range reflects compensation paid for a 3-unit course (101.25 hours) and varies based on the faculty member’s course assignment (see the Adjunct Compensation Policy for details including varying credit levels):

3-unit Lecture Course: The hiring range for this position is $3456.00 to $3856.00. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to; geographical location, knowledge, skills, and experience.

Contracts are 10 weeks (1 week designated for prep, 8 weeks of instruction, 1 week for processing final grades).
