The Opportunity
At Medibank and Amplar, we are passionate about transforming healthcare in Australia and making it accessible for everyone. What started as an initiative for our employees has now grown into a groundbreaking virtual GP service that supports over 250,000 overseas students studying in Australia, as part of Medibank’s Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) program.
We are on a mission to improve primary care by enhancing access, ensuring better health outcomes, and connecting people with the right care at the right time. As we continue to expand this new service, we’re looking for experienced, compassionate, and forward-thinking GPs to be a part of this exciting journey.
As a key member of this innovative and new service, you'll have the chance to provide high-quality, virtual healthcare to a diverse patient base. This is a privately billed service (no Medicare hassle), so you'll be able to focus on delivering excellent care with patient satisfaction as a top priority.
Naturally you will need to be comfortable providing this care virtually, and managing a cohort of young patients, often with non-English speaking backgrounds. We do require a commit to complete a minimum of two 4 hours shifts per week. We are looking for people with any availabilty from Monday - Sunday 24/7. We have also highlighted our preference for after hours availablity below:
- Tuesday to Thursday during business hours
- After 8pm Weekdays (and overnight)
- Weekends (during the day and overnight)
We are flexible on shift times and are happy to support:
- Other clinical work
- Child and family commitments (including those coming back from parental leave)
- GPs wanting to transition to retirement or undertake more straightforward episodic care
The initial engagement will be as a Causal Contingent Contractor, offering you a competitive hourly shift rates and ongoing support from our Principal GPs and experienced Practice Manager.
About You
This role suits a qualified Medical Practitioner with full AHPRA registration and FRACGP, preferably with fluency in languages other than English. Significant experience in the use of GP patient management software and a good level of IT literacy Comfortable conducting clinical assessments virtually but also able to collaborate with your wider team through various digital tools and collaborative software such as MS Teams.
