ADS is currently seeking a highly skilled Cloud Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and management of our cloud-based data infrastructure. You will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable, secure, and efficient cloud architectures for data storage, processing, and analytics. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on engineering, ensuring the successful migration of data systems to the cloud and the automation of data workflows across the organization.
This role will work closely with the Director of Technology and Data Services to align cloud architecture and data engineering solutions with the broader technical strategy of the organization. You will provide technical insights and recommendations to support the Director’s vision of modernizing the infrastructure, automating key processes, and enhancing the scalability of data systems. Together, you will drive the successful migration to a cloud-based architecture, ensuring that all implementations meet performance, security, and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Design
o Design and implement cloud-based solutions for data storage, management, and processing on AWS (or other cloud platforms).
o Ensure cloud architectures are scalable, secure, and optimized for cost-efficiency.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cloud architecture with evolving business requirements.
Data Engineering
o Build and manage ETL pipelines for seamless ingestion, transformation, and storage.
o Develop and maintain robust data warehousing and data lake solutions to handle both structured and unstructured data, supporting analytics and reporting needs.
o Develop and automate processes for data archiving and backup using cloud storage solutions (e.g., S3 Glacier).
Cloud Migration
o Develop strategies for data replication and synchronization between legacy systems and cloud environments.
o Retire outdated systems while ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency during the transition.
o Utilize serverless technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda) to automate data processing and system workflows.
Monitoring & Optimization
o Implement monitoring and logging solutions using AWS CloudWatch or other cloud-native tools to ensure system performance and availability.
o Conduct regular audits and reviews to optimize cloud costs and ensure efficient resource utilization.
Security & Compliance
o Ensure cloud architectures meet security, governance, and compliance standards, particularly for AWS GovCloud or other regulated environments.
o Implement robust security measures, including data encryption, RBAC, and secure data transmission, ensuring compliance with internal, government, and CMMC standards.
API & Automation
o Implement and manage API management platforms for data integrations and automation across third-party systems.
o Design and implement serverless solutions using AWS Lambda to automate data processing and system workflows.
Collaboration & Strategic Guidance
o Partner with Data Scientists, Business Analysts, Software Engineers, and Information Security Officers to ensure cloud solutions meet both technical and business needs.
o Serve as the subject matter expert on cloud data architecture, providing hands-on support and guidance across the organization.

• Demonstrated success in building and managing data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses in a cloud environment.
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools (e.g., AWS Glue, Step Functions, Jitterbit)
• Familiarity with database systems such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and migrating them to cloud environments.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, SQL, Spark, or other relevant programming languages.
• Experience with API management platforms and integrating third-party data services.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, governance, and compliance standards, particularly for regulated environments like GovCloud.
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty) are a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
