The Intern is primarily responsible for planning, creating, proofreading, annotating, and managing scientific content for an assigned account or accounts across a range of therapeutic areas, addressing different target audiences in collaboration with internal team. Content could be delivered through a variety of print and electronic media outlets, including articles, slide presentations, executive summaries, eLearning platforms, and Web applications. The Medical Writer will work closely with the Scientific Director, AVP, and/or VP to provide clients with strategic recommendations that support the achievement of brand goals in the marketplace.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities range from being the independent lead executing content development activities and liaising with other in-house or freelance staff to managing writing and other content-related tasks, such as conducting background research, data-checking, and reference annotation. The desired candidate will be highly strategic in practice with the ability to quickly process information in order to accurately translate and deliver to the target audience. Scheduling flexibility, timeline prioritization skills, PowerPoint proficiency, and keen attention to detail are essential for success in this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Plans, develops, writes, and edits materials as assigned—working closely with the Scientific Director, VP, or AVP
· Proofreads and annotates work to comply with in-house, client, and/or American Medical Association (AMA) style guides
· Collaborates with internal and client teams to help identify creative solutions and to constantly improve the level of fulfillment of client vision; contributes significantly to timeline and resource planning to meet deliverable milestones
· Works closely with Account Director and Scientific Director to build confidence in MC2 service offerings; exhibits a professional image and demeanor, demonstrating adaptability and dedication to exceptional client service, assisting with resolution of concerns related to assigned areas
· Conducts research on assigned topics and secures references
· Partners with internal team and provides onsite support at key client meetings or events as needed
· Properly tracks and retains electronic versions of documentation from draft through final submission
· Thoroughly edits and revises own work and collaborates to resolve errors or concerns, saving time in editorial review process
· Completes copy review submission into appropriate platform and joins medical, legal, regulatory review process as needed
· Maintains a current knowledge of industry trends and standards and key medical topics and terminology in order to serve as a credible resource to internal and client teams
· Applies creative, critical thinking skills to problem solve in a variety of situations
· Performs these and other duties as assigned in adherence with the standards and expectations of MC2
Requirements
Education
· Currently enrolled in an advanced degree proframd (PhD, PharmD, MD)
Experience
· Clinical content development and writing experience preferred, experience in a healthcare marketing and medical education agency setting is a bonus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Strong communication and editorial skills with a high level of attention to detail and familiarity with AMA style
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and, in particular, PowerPoint
· Familiarity with virtual meeting software (eg, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoTo Meeting, Skype for Business, WebEx, Adobe Connect, etc)
· Proven organizational and timeline prioritization skills; scheduling flexibility to accommodate work volumes and the ability to manage multiple assignments
· Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team, whenever appropriate
