About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Probabilistic Risk Analysis (PRA) Engineer to support the design and production of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of cutting-edge nuclear technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) models for Small Modular Reactor (SMR) systems.
  • Perform risk evaluations and provide technical recommendations to inform design and operational decisions.
  • Analyze event sequences, failure modes, and system reliability to identify potential risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with design, systems engineering, and operations teams to integrate PRA insights into SMR development.
  • Support licensing and regulatory efforts, including preparation of documentation for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) reviews.
  • Conduct sensitivity and uncertainty analyses to support decision-making processes.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, standards, and advancements in PRA methodologies and tools.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in Probabilistic Risk Analysis in the nuclear industry.
  • Proficiency in PRA tools and software (e.g., SAPHIRE, CAFTA, or Risk Spectrum).
  • Strong knowledge of reactor systems, safety analysis, and risk-informed decision-making.
  • Familiarity with NRC regulations and licensing processes, particularly for advanced reactor designs.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technologies or advanced reactor systems.
  • Knowledge of human reliability analysis (HRA) and severe accident analysis.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
