Role Description:

Oak Street Health is looking for a data analyst to join our data science team. Our core mission is to augment our operational and care team workflows with clinical data insight tools to connect the right patients with the right services. We realize that mission through the application of both simple and cutting-edge clinical tools, including advanced AI. You will play a key role in delivering on that mission by serving as a subject matter expert on interoperable medical data, translating complex data into analytic insight and action-ready features.
Core Responsibilities
  • Deeply and independently analyze structured medical data using standard or custom statistical and visualization techniques.
  • Translate clinical criteria for program or action eligibility into standard, accurate, and scalable definitions leveraging major medical terminologies like ICD, LOINC, SNOMED, and RxNorm.
  • Collaborate directly with medical professionals to engineer patient attributes from interoperable clinical data sources that balance sensitivity with specificity.
  • Organize and present data-backed findings in the form of interpretable, apt visualizations and reports to stakeholders with varying degrees of technical or medical proficiency.
  • Conduct observational studies using complex clinical data to answer pressing questions of how patients engage with their health.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on interoperable clinical data, supporting clinical leadership, data engineers, and data scientists.
What are we looking for
We're looking for a motivated data analyst with:
  • Applied analytic experience in HIE data and/or medical claims, 2+ years professional experience.
  • Advanced command of SQL, experience with Python/R is a plus, 2+ years professional experience.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills reflective of someone who is always digging one layer deeper into real-world problems.
  • Skilled communicator able to connect data with insight to stakeholder groups.
  • Comfortable leveraging standardized medical vocabularies.
  • Proficient in designing and conducting observational experiments with statistical and clinical guidance.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Computer Science, Business or Analytics 
  • US work authorization

The Data Analyst will be responsible for creating ad hoc analyses and reports that interpret and analyze data trends for all teams at Oak Street Health.  This role will handle all data requests and provide data reports to assist in programmatic decisions.  The data analyst will also assist in determining future analyses and metrics and the development of meaningful performance indicators.  The scope of this role will focus on medical economics and finance related data requests and analysis along with special projects.
