Position Summary
The Director of Sales, Horticulture works closely with the VP, North American Sales - PGS to lead the Horticulture sales team and be responsible for executing the sales strategy focused both on leading and lagging indicators. The Director of Sales, Horticulture will also be responsible for identifying, developing and coaching talent to grow within the sales team. * Ideal candidate must be located near a major airport.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Key member of Horticulture leadership team; support team through M&A, integration and other growth activities
· Identify, develop, and coach talent to grow within the sales team
· Execute sales strategy focused on both leading & lagging indicators
· Lead and enable team to take a balanced growth approach: focused on organic growth across the entire portfolio and new customer development
· Implement Direct vs. Distribution strategy focused on improved margin without sacrificing share growth
· Manage Key Customer Relationships & Contracts
· Stays aware and in-tune with the market; stays aware of new developments and trends; communicates internally and with customers
· Support the team and customers to help identify opportunities for trials and growth
· Own the financial/sales metrics for Horticulture team (across business units)
· Drive all necessary financial budgeting and forecasting
· Drive alignment with R&D function to ensure priority projects are resourced and meeting stage and gates process and timing
· Coordinate efforts with Dir of Sales from sales from other side of Horticulture team to ensure alignment, minimize duplication of efforts and drive One Horticulture Culture
· Establish and hold team accountable for goals / objectives, monitor delivery of results through regular communications and formal performance review process
· Ensure development and delivery of detailed territory sales plan by all team members
· Upgrade sales force team members through upskilling and replacement as necessary
· Demonstrate clear understanding of entire product portfolio and go to market strategies
· Coordinate continuing product sales education/training plan with the technical support team
· Monitor and oversee CRM utilization including activities, new opportunities, pipeline growth, and new customer acquisition
Job Requirements
Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
· Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or related field, with advanced studies in Business Management strongly preferred
· Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Horticulture industry; technical and senior management/leadership background preferred
· Strong background in Horticulture industry
· Experience working with CRM’s and handheld devices preferred

· Strong computer skills that include proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Dropbox.
Language Skills
· Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently. Bilingual skills preferred.
