Officer, Corporate Policy 

Closing Date: 7th March 2025 

Location:  United Kingdom (Remote) & Germany (Remote) 

 

The Gold Standard Foundation is seeking a skilled critical thinker to join our Corporate Programme team as a Corporate Policy Officer. 

 

As a Corporate Policy Officer you will support the development of climate and nature best practice policy positions, frameworks and guidance which are vital for companies to reach their nature and climate targets.  

 

This is an exciting position for those who want to be part of tackling the single most important topic in Corporate Responsibility and driving businesses towards their net zero targets, whilst working with some of the smartest brains in the world. 

 

This role will appeal to develop their knowledge in high integrity corporate responsibility, such as. Scope 3, Corporate Claims, Beyond Value Chain Mitigation, Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Science Based Targets initiative.

This includes investments in their value chains, carbon credits, and other mechanisms for high-integrity climate action that delivers real impact for people and nature.     

 

It was established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs as a best practice standard to ensure projects that reduced carbon emissions under the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) also delivered sustainable development benefits. Today, our standard, ‘Gold Standard for the Global Goals’, allows climate and development initiatives within carbon markets, corporate supply chains, and sustainable finance to manage, measure and maximise their impacts toward the Net Zero ambition of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.  

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: 

 

  • Conduct research into developments in corporate responsibility, including (but not limited to), value chain mitigation, carbon accounting, Beyond Value Chain financing, financing modelling for landscapes, attribution of SDG outcomes and legislative changes.  
  • Conduct research and maintain Gold Standard’s understanding of key policy mechanisms, such as CSRD, TC/TNFD and emerging California regulations, as well as key voluntary frameworks such as SBTi and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol 
  • Provide technical input, to support the key Gold Standard partnerships, key framework documents and in support of credible civil society and corporate initiatives.  
  • Participate and/or own work streams developing policy, guidance and documents to support the goals of the corporate responsibility team.  
  • Represent Gold Standard at key external events, including conferences and workshops from time to time as required. 

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: 

 

  • Critical system thinking – this will be tested at the interview stage.  
  • Educated to degree level with a relevant degree such as sustainability or environmental science and 1 year experience in a professional role, or 3+ years’ experience demonstrating initiative in a sustainability-based role.  
  • Knowledge of climate change, nature positive, environmental markets, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with a range of team members worldwide and conveying complex information to both internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Fluency in English is essential (written and verbal).
