IMPORTANT NOTE: Candidates who apply to the Engineering track will rotate through both of the following rotations. Cross track assignments are not an option within the Apprenticeship program (i.e. candidates will only move through rotations within their assigned track – CIO, Information Security or Engineering).

Rotation: Engineering Onboarding Scrum Master (6-month rotation)

Role Summary/Purpose:

It is estimated that over 100 new engineers will join Synchrony in 2025. We have developed an onboarding curriculum for engineering new hires. This role will be responsible for executing and incrementally improving the content and delivery of the onboarding curriculum. This role will also work closely with Scrum Masters in the Engineering Strategy Organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Act as Scrum Master / Kanban Leader for Engineering onboarding program.

  • Utilize a Kanban board to prioritize work and manage backlog

  • Use iterative design principles

  • Content is shared via:

    • Workday learning

    • Sharepoint syncranet pages

    • Tech Topic virtual meetings

  • Part of Tech/Ops Engineering Strategy Organization

Qualifications/ Requirements:

Great communication skills: 

  • Ability to lead meetings and solicit engagement & feedback from participants

  • Ability to support engineering communications. Ensure communications are:

    • Understandable, specific and direct

    • Following Synchrony standards

    • Sent through the appropriate channels

  • Ability to direct work to improve sharepoint support pages for a variety of technical topics

Rotation #2: User Tester (6-month rotation)

Role Summary/Purpose:

As a Junior Test Engineer, you’ll work hand in hand with our User Experience team to test eye popping, user-friendly, super intuitive online applications. You’ll participate in hack-a-thons, partner with universities on innovation events, work with our famed Stamford Innovation Station—you’ll bring us ideas about how to do things differently. You’ll be defining what Software Engineering means here—and how it can affect the entire industry.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support Test requirements for team.

  • Interface with Project Teams to provide ongoing project status.

  • Ideate on current Test Strategy and Test Plans.

  • Analyze feasibility and time estimates for testing engagements.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Experience with unit testing frameworks, UI test cases in a Test-driven development (TDD) environment 

  • Working knowledge of implementing Accessibility (ADA) and Analytics requirements

  • General technology knowledge:

  • understand how technology is implemented and supported (organizationally)

  • Microsoft office tools including Sharepoint, Forms and Teams

Grade/Level: 07

                                      

The hourly rate range for this position is $24.00 - $33.50/hr USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience or skill level.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
