The Senior IT Manufacturing Execution Systems Manager manage the specialist IT MES team involved in the management of deployment of our Medtronic’s next generation of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) from the software company Critical Manufacturing. This role will also be key member of our Global Manufacturing Digital Transformation leadership team. This Role is Remote based in Colombia.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Ensure the MES operates continuously, minimizing downtime and maintaining system uptime to support manufacturing operations
  • Safeguard the accuracy, consistency, and security of production data, ensuring compliance with privacy and data protection regulations
  • Track the MES’s performance, proactively addressing bottlenecks or failures that could impact production efficiency
  • Lead incident resolution, diagnosing issues in real-time and restoring MES functionality to minimize operational disruptions
  • Act as a liaison between IT and manufacturing teams to understand production needs and optimize MES performance and functionality.
  • Oversee relationships with MES vendors, ensuring SLAs are met, troubleshooting is efficient, and necessary updates or customizations are delivered on time.
  • Lead Application of updates, patches, and version upgrades to ensure the system is secure, reliable, and aligned with industry standards
  • Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery strategies to ensure fast restoration of MES in case of a failure or data loss
  • Manage Providing training, ongoing support, and resources to ensure MES users can effectively interact with the system and resolve basic issues
  • Ensure that the MES adheres to industry regulations (e.g., FDA, ISO) and maintain comprehensive documentation for audits and process improvements.
  • Oversee system configurations, customization, and integration of the MES with other enterprise systems, ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Identify and lead opportunities to enhance MES functionality or streamline production workflows, driving greater operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Regularly communicate with senior management and other stakeholders about system health, incident reports, and improvement plans to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery strategies to ensure fast restoration of MES in case of a failure or data loss.


Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Fluent in English
  • Ten years of experience in manufacturing systems management and hands on implementation data architecture and data engineering and three years of hands-on experience with Snowflake
  • Proven ability to lead and manage IT projects and resources related to MES implementation, upgrades, and integrations, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems platforms, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of manufacturing execution systems like Critical Manufacturing, SAP ME, Siemens Op-centre, or Rockwell FactoryTalk
  • Experience in managing the underlying IT infrastructure (servers, networks, databases) that supports MES operations, ensuring system reliability and scalability
  • Experience forecasting system growth and planning for infrastructure expansion to support future MES performance needs.
  • Knowledge of databases (SQL, Oracle, etc.), as MES platforms often rely on robust database systems to store and manage manufacturing data
  • Ability to lead and manage IT projects related to MES implementation, upgrades, and integrations, ensuring timely delivery within budget
  • Experience integrating MES with other enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, PLCs, SCADA) for seamless operations across production and business functions.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing workflows and processes, allowing for effective optimization and alignment of MES to meet business goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and lead the IT team in achieving MES-related objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, agile environment.
  • Ability to design and deliver training programs to users, ensuring they understand MES functionality and can troubleshoot common issues.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO) and experience ensuring that the MES complies with industry standards and audits.
