Who We Are
As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services.
We have six regional centres Aberdeen, Dundee, South Queensferry, Lumina, Cardonald and Clydebank.
NHS 24 supports hybrid working, and this post can be based within any NHS 24 regional centres. The successful candidate must be within commuting distance to a regional centre to attend if required and must also be able to travel to other regional centres when requested to attend meetings, undertake training and any other activities.
The Role
The Learning Technologist role involves leveraging technology to identify emergent learning opportunities and implement digital skills to meet organisational needs. The post holder will design, develop, and deliver interactive multi-media learning programmes, focusing on Microsoft 365 tools, and manage the learning technology infrastructure. They will develop key client service relationships, provide professional advice on learning technology solutions, manage virtual learning platforms, and lead projects for organisational improvement. Additionally, they will support digital skills analysis, develop learning materials, and ensure high standards through quality checking and monitoring processes.
Key Responsibilities
- To work with NHS 24 Subject Matter Experts across the organisation to develop technology enhanced learning experiences and interventions which meet recognised industry standards and organisational requirements and act as the Microsoft 365 Subject Matter Expert for learning
- Regularly carry out testing of system updates, upgrades and of other software integrated with the Learning Systems Infrastructure
- Support the maintenance of the Learning Management System (LMS) for accurate statistical reporting and analysis on all learning activities, for inclusion in the relevant Workforce directorate reports
- Deputise for the OD & Learning Manager (Transformation) when required, and to represent the ODLL Department at a national and strategic level, by participating in relevant national groups and committees, particularly for groups involved in learning technologies
- Liaise with appropriate contacts at other NHS Boards (and Local Authorities) regarding the development of learning technology within their area. This communication is required for information sharing, benchmarking and maintaining both informal and formal links for the development of eLearning in the NHS
Successful Applicant Will
- Be educated to degree level in an appropriate discipline.
- Demonstrate significant experience of developing technology enhanced learning experiences.
- Have excellent IT skills including image / video editing and web development / programming skills.
- Exhibit well developed Project management skills and have knowledge of web development / programming is also required. For example, xHTML, CSS , PHP/ASP, MySQL, javascript / AJAX, Adobe Flash Development (Flash authoring and actionscript).
Benefits
NHS 24 offers a complete benefits package, with a permanent contract on Band 6 £39,912 - £48,635 Per Annum (pro rata if applicable). Placement on salary scale is dependent on confirmation of previous relevant NHS service.
