Sr. Software Engineer, Retail Systems

Job Summary

The Software Engineer Team Member is part of the Store Systems Team. Under general direction, they will design, develop, and implement systems to ensure business requirements are met in a timely and cost-effective manner. Key development responsibilities include the development and support of internal systems and integration of third-party applications and systems support. The role will require leadership, consulting and knowledge transfer to new and existing team members. This role has a strong focus on developing web applications, batch processes and windows services. Many of the web applications run on Zebra handheld devices and are used by Giant Eagle/Market District supermarket locations

Job Description

Key Competencies:

• Required 5+ years of experience as a programmer/developer, who is versatile and can work with a diverse set of technologies and applications; 5+ years of experience developing on the .NET framework version 4.8 and .NET version 8 using C#.
• Strong experience with the following technologies:  C#, .NET, ASP.NET, MVC,  Web Forms, ASP.NET Web API, Entity Framework, JQuery, SQL, SSIS, HTML, and CSS.
• Familiarity with GitHub and setting up Azure DevOps pipeline deployments.
• Demonstrate ability to apply technical knowledge to multiple systems and support multiple business groups.  Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to interact with various personalities at all organization levels.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and ability to write complex SQL using SQL Server and Oracle databases and utilized these data stores programmatically.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent experience

Experience Desired

• Experience working in a supermarket IT or other retail IT environment.
• Experience with job scheduling tools such as UC4.
• Experience with Sql Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Azure API Management (APIM)

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and support data feeds from corporate systems third party applications.
• Develop and support MVC web applications for end user management of product data.
• Use C#, .Net, MVC framework, and web services to create fully functional websites
• Produce console applications, web services and windows services to support data sharing and offline processing.
• Participate in off hours on call rotation and provide daily support as needed.
