Job description

Utilities One is looking for highly skilled OSP Engineer II to join our team and support the design, implementation, and maintenance of OSP infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fiber optic network design, and the ability to lead projects with minimal supervision. This role requires expertise in permitting, regulatory compliance, and working with contractors to ensure successful project execution

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the planning and design of fiber optic networks, including the selection of appropriate cable types, sizes, and routing;
  • Determine the best pathways for cable placement and inform the designer of any roadblocks while identifying other utilities that may be in conflict;
  • Conduct surveys of existing infrastructure to identify the best locations for the new cables & equipment and to ensure the overall success of the fiber optic network;
  • Ensures quality control and adherence to safety standards during construction;
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to OSP Engineer I team members;
  • Test and troubleshoot fiber optic network issues, and resolve any problems in a timely manner;
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure the timely installation and maintenance of fiber optic infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in OSP engineering for telecom construction projects;
  • Advanced knowledge of OSP design, construction methods, and materials;
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience);
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, MicroStation, or other engineering-related software;
  • Experience with permitting processes, regulatory compliance, and construction management;
  • Knowledge of industry NESC, NEC standards, and regulations related to fiber optic networks;
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
