FDS Consult UK is part of the FDS Group, we provide fire engineering consultancy services throughout the UK. Our highly qualified and experienced team of fire engineers and CFD Engineers target design issues with a solution-driven approach that integrates fire design with both the architect’s vision and the client's brief. We have a portfolio of projects that cover all building sectors. We take an innovative and bespoke approach to every project to find solutions for each building that enhance the occupant's safety whilst maintaining its design concept and working practically with its end-use.
Your responsibilities:
Your role will include advising clients on required fire provisions and developing the fire strategy for their building / project either independently or as a team collaborating with colleagues.
You will have an understanding of Zone modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling and where it can be used effectively, and can review the CFD reports produced by the our CFD team.
You will be able to mark-up design plans using Bluebeam software, and produce fire strategy documents from RIBA Stage 2 through to As-built documents.
You will be able to and present the report to clients, building control and the fire authorities. This will enable you to influence decision makers and designs to ensure compliance and safety.
You will also be able to carry out and / or supervise site-inspections of the projects during construction to witness or sample the installation of the fire safety provisions.
FDS Consult (UK) works to a hybrid working policy and you can operate from our offices in London or Greenhithe.
Requirements
What we are looking for:
• An experienced fire engineer with a good degree, preferably in fire engineering or related topic.
• Someone with or looking to achieve chartered status.
• Demonstrable relevant fire engineering experience
• Experience of site visits/inspection for existing buildings and during construction
• Experience of structural fire engineering would be of benefit.
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to prioritise
• Customer focused and with strong people skills
• Strong analytical and good report writing skills
• Proficiency in the use of standard IT applications (e.g. Word, Excel)
• A drive to improve current performance
• Full UK Driving license.
You should have:
• A strong understanding of UK legislation and design guidance
• An ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, working to tight deadlines
