We are building a team that thrives on the excitement surrounding successful acquisition and the pride of helping create new start-ups.  This role will be housed in our subsidiary, Marine Underwriters of America


Marine Underwriter will examine commercial marine risks and determine if the risk is acceptable based on Marine Underwriters of America’s underwriting guidelines for our carrier partners. Additionally, will be required to develop current agency plant as well as cultivate new relationships with agents/brokers. Finally, develop and cultivate new products and opportunities within the marine insurance space.


Job Responsibilities

  • Underwrite profitable new and renewal business
  • Relationship Building and Management of Assigned Agents
  • Review and handle policy servicing requests
  • Review inspection reports and compare to information gathered during the underwriting process to determine if appropriate actions are necessary
  • Continuing Education to obtain and maintain licensing
  • Sales and marketing
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or appropriate insurance designation.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the commercial marine underwriting space or similar experience required. Familiarity with commercial recreational marine a plus.
  • Product knowledge of marine general liability, hull/P&I, and marine property products.
  • Regional marine market knowledge. National marine market knowledge a plus.
  • Must have the ability to use company automation including Microsoft Products.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Strong communication and writing skills. 
  • Leadership and team building skills.
  • Motivated, self-starter.
