A Financial Services Vertical Market Specialist is a crucial role that brings Smart Communications’ leading SaaS offerings to market globally. This is a high-profile role both within the business as well as within the marketplace. The role engages with sales, marketing, development, customer success, and other teams within the organization by developing the strategy and content that expresses our horizontal technology offerings in terms of valuable use cases and opportunities that are important to the financial services industry, with an emphasis on the wealth and asset management segment.
This role includes engagement with customers, prospects, key industry analysts, and many departments within Smart Communications. This is a high-profile role, including speaking at conferences, delivering webinars, creating relevant video content, crafting responses to RFIs, developing content for business development representatives, supporting sales, delivering roadmaps, and presenting key trends back to the business to drive future priorities.
Summary
The Financial Services Vertical Market Specialist has a background in finance or marketing software to financial services organizations. The role supports use cases in wealth management and retail banking segments, focusing on applications that collect data (applications, onboarding, regulatory forms, etc.) and customer communications (correspondence, contracts, compliance communications, statements, portfolio review documents, pitch books, and other critical customer communications.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a financial institution, preferably with experience in wealth management. The candidate will develop and execute targeted marketing strategies, support cross selling initiatives, develop content, and develop an audience as a thought leader in financial services communications at events, on panels, in webinars, with videos, and by writing.

- Looking for an amazing communicator with deep experience (5+ years) in a financial services firm as a business analyst, business architect, or product owner.
- And/or Seeking a strong Vertical Marketer for financial services in a successful FinTech firm with a SaaS-based offering.
- Looking for a collaborator that can bring value to almost all departments as a thought leader to help communicate value, co-develop marketing strategies, support key sales opportunities, and represent Smart Communications in relevant industry forums.
- This role is in the Product and Vertical Marketing team that reports up to the CTO side of the business, ensuring a strong connection between the needs of the Financial Services market and the development plan.
- This role presents an opportunity to build a personal brand as a financial services thought leader while supporting the growth of Smart Communications while the financial services industry confronts changing regulations, increased focus on security, changing workforces, digital transformation, and increasing customer expectations.
The responsibilities of the role include:
- Market Research & Analysis: Analyzing the financial services market, identifying key trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to inform sales and marketing strategies from a variety of sources.
- Understand Market Trends: Identify market trends and identify how Smart Communications’ technology eliminates common industry problems.
- Content Creation: Developing targeted content (e.g., blogs, brochures, case studies, webinars, blog posts, customer stories, etc.) that resonates with financial services professionals and addresses their specific industry needs.
- Campaign Management: Partnering with marketing to execute campaigns that deliver on high growth targets that generate leads and drive customer acquisition within the financial services sector in supported regions.
- Sales Enablement: Creating sales tools and resources (e.g., presentations, brochures, demos) that equip the sales team to effectively sell to financial services clients.
- Relationship Building: Building and maintaining relationships with key influencers, industry analysts, and potential customers within the financial services industry.
- Collaboration: Working closely with sales, product, and other marketing teams to ensure alignment and achieve overall business objectives.
What we’re looking for:
Must have skills/experience:
- Five years or more in a technology adjacent role within a leading financial institution, preferably with wealth management experience.
- Or equivalent experience as a financial vertical marketer within a successful SaaS business or FinTech firm.
- Deep knowledge of relevant use cases related to communication and data collection within financial services firms.
- Amazing communication skills, including creating presentations, presenting to large groups, creating written content (blogs, articles, videos, BDR emails, sales training, client RFI answers for key questions, analyst submissions, and other content in support of raising market awareness and supporting sales growth.
- Ability to travel across all supported regions and countries in support of the business
- Availability to support events at conferences, events, and other forums to represent Smart Communications.
Advantageous skills/experience:
- Experience in Wealth and Asset Management highly advantageous
- Experience developing lending/loan origination processes if there is no Wealth and Asset Management experience.
- Previously published content in financial services trade publications
- Strong industry relationships in organizations, customer groups, or other relevant forums that discuss trends, solutions, or concepts for finance.
- Experience recording audio and video content from home office.
