Position Overview

We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer specializing in Fire Protection to drive sales growth and market expansion for our advanced circuit integrity cables. This role requires a deep understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) requirements, and UL 2196 compliance. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise and sales acumen to build strong relationships with engineers, contractors, integrators, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and distribution partners.

This position is remote but requires travel (up to 50%) throughout the Midwest region to engage with clients and drive business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:Sales & Market Expansion:

  • Develop and execute a strategic business plan to increase market share and profitability.
  • Manage the sales pipeline, identifying and pursuing opportunities with engineering firms, contractors, and key decision-makers.
  • Conduct market research to track large-scale projects, ensuring early engagement with stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop new leads through networking, research, and cold calling.

Technical & Product Expertise

  • Provide technical support and educate clients on the installation, application, and advantages of circuit integrity cables.
  • Stay up-to-date with NEC and NFPA requirements related to fire protection and pathway survivability.
  • Understand UL 2196 compliance and how to position our products within the fire protection market.

Client & Channel Management

  • Develop strong relationships with engineering firms, contractors, distributors, and integrators.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle, from quoting and presentations to post-sale follow-ups.
  • Work closely with AHJs and regulatory bodies to ensure product approvals and seamless adoption.

Project & Account Management

  • Monitor and track key projects from design through order completion.
  • Provide regular reports on pipeline updates, sales forecasts, and market trends.
  • Deliver technical presentations and assist customers with installation questions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Sales, or a related field OR 5+ years of proven experience in technical sales.
  • Experience in wire and cable manufacturing or distribution preferred.
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams.
