THE PORTFOLIO COMPANY
This key leadership role is in a high-growth, high-energy, high-profit portfolio company of big thinkers and big doers. It is a CPG / beverage / dietary supplement company with a history of strong profitable growth as the number one product and brand in its emerging category. Through its expanding sales and distribution network, they are building a team to take current and new products to the global market and achieve exponential growth. With the leadership team formed, the opportunity is now to define and refine the cross functional integrated strategy and lead the team to grow revenue 10x-100x, enabling a highly lucrative exit.
THE ROLE
Elevation Capital, a private equity firm specializing in high-growth consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands, seeks a dynamic and strategic VP, Media Relations & Communications to lead the visibility and reputation-building efforts for our diverse and rapidly growing portfolio of botanical and wellness-focused brands, led by a strong and dynamic founder. This senior role will be instrumental in crafting and executing media relations and communication strategies that drive brand awareness, amplify key narratives, and position our portfolio as leaders in their categories.
This role will involve securing high-profile opportunities such as podcasts, thought leadership awards, product features, sponsorships, celebrity collaborations, events, and strategic partnerships that amplify brand visibility and authority. The candidate will also play a critical role in promoting the founder as a thought leader through media engagements, keynote speaking opportunities, and other public platforms.
An extensive network across consumer, trade, and digital media is essential, as is the ability to anticipate and manage complex communications challenges in a fast-paced, regulated industry environment. The VP, Media Relations & Communications must be a visionary leader who can tie PR efforts to measurable outcomes, including audience growth, revenue impact, and enhanced market positioning, while ensuring the brands and founder remain at the forefront of the botanical and wellness space.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Media Relations and Brand Elevation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and media outlets across lifestyle, trade, and consumer sectors.
- Secure high-profile media placements that enhance the visibility and credibility of Elevation Capital’s portfolio brands.
- Act as a strategic advisor to portfolio companies, providing media training and support for their leadership teams.
- Represent Elevation Capital and its brands as a dynamic spokesperson, reinforcing the firm’s reputation as a leader in the CPG industry.
Strategic Public Relations
- Develop and execute a PR strategy that elevates both Elevation Capital’s profile and the market presence of its portfolio brands.
- Craft compelling press materials, including pitches, media kits, executive profiles, and talking points, tailored to diverse audiences.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to align portfolio brands with trends, consumer interests, and industry conversations.
Relationship and Network Building
- Leverage your network to create connections that accelerate brand growth and expand media opportunities.
- Foster partnerships with key industry stakeholders, influencers, and event organizers to amplify portfolio brand visibility.
- Continuously expand Elevation Capital’s influence by representing the firm and its brands at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
Measurement and Impact
- Define and track KPIs for media relations, including earned media value (EMV), reach, share of voice, and brand sentiment.
- Provide regular reporting on PR performance, showcasing how efforts contribute to brand awareness, consumer engagement, and portfolio growth.
- Analyze and refine PR strategies based on performance data to maximize impact.
Thought Leadership and Advocacy
- Position Elevation Capital as a thought leader in the CPG space by securing executive visibility through interviews, op-eds, and speaking engagements.
- Develop narratives that highlight Elevation Capital’s role in fostering innovation and growth within the CPG industry.
Portfolio Collaboration
- Partner with portfolio brand teams to align PR strategies with their unique goals and growth objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to portfolio companies, guiding them on media relations best practices and opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS
- 8-10+ years in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications, with a proven track record of securing high-impact media placements with emerging and/or rapid growth CPG brands. Strong preference for experience in regulated industries: cannabis, alcohol, pharmaceutical or dietary supplements.
- Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in the CPG sector.
- Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills, with a strong existing network in the lifestyle, consumer, and trade media space.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with expertise in storytelling and media pitching.
- Ability to translate brand stories into compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of media analytics and experience using metrics to refine strategies and demonstrate impact.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze performance metrics and make informed decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Early adopter of AI and efficiency tools across marketing platforms to capitalize on trends and speed-to-market opportunities
- Exceptional project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines and deliver results.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Ability to travel as needed for key markets and events. ~15-20%
