The Vacancy

Binnies an RSK Group company is looking for a Field Services Manager to work within our Asset Management team.

Asset Management encompasses all the activities to plan and sustain physical infrastructure throughout its whole lifecycle, from concept to disposal. The team includes a broad set of skills that provide consultancy services to the water, transport, industrial and energy sectors in the UK and other global markets.

The Field Services Manager role is a new and exciting role within our Asset Management business where we are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to support the growth and lead delivery of key service offerings to clients. The field services manager will be responsible for the coordination, performance and delivery of the following services:

  • Asset Condition Assessments
  • Asset Data Capture
  • 3D Photogrammetry
  • Site Surveys
  • Asset Monitoring


The Role

You will support the delivery of Asset Management services to our clients within asset intensive industries. You will line manage a group of Field Specialists involved in critical project activities. You will have an aptitude for communicating and motivating a high performing team, to ensure quality and standards are maintained across a range of functions.

Given the nature of the role you should also have experience in managing resources across different functions / locations to implement solutions for complex problems.

Your key areas of input will be to help create and implement the standards, processes and systems that will help our clients obtain the maximum value and efficiency from our service offerings:

  • Embed systems and processes to enable a high standard of health, safety, and wellbeing into operational activities.
  • Develop skills and capability of our Field Specialists to serve our clients effectively and grow the business.
  • Assist Project Leads in client liaison through delivery of asset management and transformative operational projects.
  • Experience in an operational environment and maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Guide the Binnies Field Services according to the Engaged principles, promoting a positive culture and level of wellbeing.
  • Support the Asset Management Leadership Team develop and implement the Field Services growth strategy, to include:
    • People: Identify requirements for new roles with ongoing evaluation of the operational effectiveness of the team structure. Develop and agree individual goals and objectives designed to retain and promote high performance by the team.
    • Process: Lead initiatives that plan and question internal processes ensuring that the team are developing ways of working that are scalable, sustainable and will meet industry requirements for our products and services, be innovative and be a shift from traditional solutions to be the best on the market.
    • Collaborative: Liaise with other Binnies functions and RSK regarding future requirements for leveraging product, service, and market advantage.
    • Recruitment: Lead the service line recruitment strategy and engagement with Binnies Recruitment to create and sustain the best possible team of professionals.


Key Relationships

The Field Services Manager will work as part of the Asset Management Team and support the Asset Management service line Directors deliver projects for clients.

  • Internally, you will be part of the Asset Management department, supporting clients’ projects and assisting with other internal departments as required.
  • Externally you will have interactions with clients, contractors and other third parties to facilitate an effective service delivery environment.
  • The ability to motivate, nurture and support the development of our talented professionals, by helping to develop their career plans and prominence in the target domains and markets for Binnies Asset Management. You will directly manage a team of internal Field Specialists, and potentially contractor resource where required.


Essential Requirements

Achieved or working towards IOSH Managing Safely. Other health and safety qualifications as appropriate.

Awareness of:

  • Water and Wastewater Infrastructure
  • Background of working within an operational environment, communicating concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical experts.
  • Experience of building a high performing team and effective line management.
  • Successful track record of delivering outcomes against targets, budget, and quality.
  • Knowledge of asset intensive industries such as water, energy, transport, manufacturing
