One of TNC’s primary goals is to cultivate an inclusive work environment so that employees around the globe have a sense of belonging and feel that their unique contributions are valued. We know we’ll only achieve our mission by hiring and engaging a diverse staff that reflects the communities in which we work. Recognizing that people bring talent and skills that have been developed outside the scope of a job, we take a holistic approach to recruitment that considers life experience in addition to the professional requirements listed in our postings. Please apply – we’d love to hear from you. To quote a popular saying at TNC, “you’ll join for the mission, and you’ll stay for the people.”
What We Can Achieve Together
To be successful in our mission, The Nature Conservancy is embracing processes and novel solutions that will accelerate and amplify our impact. This work at the intersection of people and nature requires new perspectives, skillsets, and an agile approach. Within a learning environment, the undergraduate technology innovation intern will be helping the New York innovation team to deliver pragmatic, innovative solutions based on the results of our recent technology assessment. We are seeking a go-getting, enthusiastic, solutions-oriented intern to join us in transforming our work.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU
The part-time (15-20 hours/week) intern will work remotely with innovation leadership and program teams to help identify, design, and implement technology-driven solutions to our work. They will bring their background and expertise – perhaps in engineering, analytics, design, management, software development, etc. – to significantly advance technology roadblocks for our teams. This could include creating processes, identifying and socializing solutions, designing program work, generating program materials, policies or processes, or introducing new methods and best practices into our day to day operations and conservation work. Based on a recent technology assessment, the work has potential to take the intern in many different directions. Therefore, the specific project work will be dependent on the intern’s academic interests, unique skillset, and the needs of our many conservation programs. The organizational areas in which the intern may work include Conservation, Philanthropy, Marketing & Communications, and Operations. The intern must have existing authorization to work in the U.S., and must be located in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.
What You'll Bring
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate academic program between March-May 2025.
- Located full-time in the U.S. for the duration of the internship
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Experience researching and thinking through technology-driven solutions including process and training solutions.
Desired Qualifications
- A desire to grow in this role and tackle big challenges through a learning-by-doing approach.
- Interest in trying new approaches to work, and applying them to challenges facing the organization.
- Interest in applying your expertise, diversity of thought, and unique background to help transform the organization.
- Willingness to work cross-functionally and with multiple priorities at various levels of leadership.
- Willingness to work remotely and independently (with guidance) 15-30 hours per week (part-time) for 10-12 weeks.
- Ability to communicate accurately, transparently, and to apply feedback.
- Passion for change.
- A strong sense of ethical responsibility.
