Job description

Position Summary

The solution architect’s role focuses on solution-level decisions and analysis of their impact on the overall business goals and outcomes. This position plays a crucial role in designing and implementing end-to-end solutions that meet university needs. This position requires a deep understanding of both business and technology, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. 

After developing a strategic technical vision of the product, the Solution Architect is involved in estimating the budget and working with Product Management for presentation to the stakeholders. The Solution Architect will monitor the process of development and keep stakeholders informed about the progress.  The solution architect is a voting member of the ARB.  The solution architect is involved in the Change Advisory Board (CAB) to ensure presented projects are released according to the agreed design. 

Essential Functions:  

  • Partners with the PMO to size new project requests with technical components. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand business requirements and objectives. 
  • Create detailed architecture documentation, including diagrams and technical specifications. 
  • Maintains libraries of application and data integrations. 
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, tools, and frameworks to support solution development​. 
  • Partners with the development team to create technology solutions that align with strategic goals. 
  • Actively participates in technology selection​. 
  • Supports the Business Analysts team. 
  • Leads solution development​. 
  • Supports the Project Management​ team. 
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in proposed solutions and develop mitigation strategies. 
  • Ensure solutions comply with relevant security, privacy, and regulatory standards.   
  • Actively seek feedback and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of solutions.   
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.

Requirements: 

Education & Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. 
  • Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus. 
  • 8+ years of software development​ required. 
  • 3 + years Business analysis​ required. 
  • Experience with DevOps or other related methodologies​ required. 
  • Experience in executing projects in waterfall, agile and agile product driven organizations. 

Competencies/Technical/Functional Skills: 

  • Knowledge of SDLC and how to design, develop and implement software solutions 
  • Working knowledge, principles, and practices of office management/systems within a higher education environment, preferred. Demonstrates an understanding of underlying organizational issues. 
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills 
  • Familiarity with Salesforce products and architectural best practices 
  • Identify and evaluate the risk to eliminate or mitigate risk in a computer system or network. 
  • Knowledge of software development process and technical skills 
  • Able to communicate with all stakeholders such as software engineers, management, clients and vendors, they must convey technical language to other stakeholders often in non-technical terms. 
  • Broad knowledge of the National University technology landscape 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Project and resource management aptitude 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and define problems accurately. 
  • Develops creative and effective solutions to complex issues.

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.  Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency. Compensation Range:

Annual Salary: $71,360.00 - $96,340.00
