Job Summary
The Senior Manager, EPMO will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing PMO governance and training programs to support our objectives and enhance the capabilities of our project management team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent communication skills, and a passion for fostering professional development.
This role will work in partnership with the Director, EPMO to align project management resources, implement and uphold governance structures, and provide direct oversight and mentorship to project managers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools, knowledge, and support to successfully execute projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

People Leadership:
Lead a team of project managers, enforcing consistency and standardizing processes across the team
Provide guidance and support to enhance their professional development and project management skills
Conduct regular performance reviews for assigned project managers to provide feedback, identify development opportunities, and assess their contributions to the team
Participate in recruitment activities to fill project management roles and support onboarding efforts to position new hires for success
PMO Governance:
Support the PMO Director in the development and enforcement of standardized methodologies, templates, and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects
Collaborate with the PMO Director on resource allocation decisions across the entire PMO
Lead a subset of project managers, embedded within specialty Lines of Business (LOBs); partnering with those business leaders to ensure the EPMO provides the necessary support and resources to drive successful project outcomes
Work with project coordinators to ensure preparation/completion for various EPMO meetings such as Steering Committees, Cross Functional Meetings, Investment Committees, Stage Gate Meetings, etc.
Training Program Development & Delivery:
Conduct training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and areas for improvement within the EPMO and related departments
Work with the EPMO Director to align training initiatives with organizational goals and project objectives
Design and develop comprehensive training programs tailored to the needs of the EPMO, including project management methodologies, tools, and best practices
Conduct training sessions in various formats, including in-person workshops, virtual classrooms, and one-on-one coaching, ensuring that all participants understand and can apply the material
Foster a culture of project management excellence and continuous improvement within the organization
CANDIDATE SUMMARY
Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills
7+ years of related experience with project management and scheduling software is required.
5 or more years or prior supervisory/management experience; preferably within a remote environment
Experience utilizing earned value management to properly integrate project costs and schedule
Expertise using critical path methodology to deliver complex and high-cost projects utilizing a project schedule baseline
Experience using Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to derive project schedules focused on deliverables
Proven experience as a people manager, preferably within a PMO or similar project-driven environment
Strong knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrable experience creating engaging and effective training materials and delivering them to diverse audiences
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with an understanding of key metrics and trends
Excellent organizational skills and experience working effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Experience delivering reports and information to an executive (C-suite) audience
Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and integrations
Strong work ethic and personal accountability with the ability to work under pressure while maintaining sound judgment and a rigorous focus on the details
Acts with the highest standards of integrity at all times, building enduring and trusting relationships with key stakeholders
Formal Education, Qualifications or Training
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Project Management, Business Management, or related.
Masters Degree Preferred
Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of related professional experience for each year of college requested
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or agreement to obtain within 6 months of hire date
Travel Requirement
Occasional travel (<10%) may be required
