Code for America is looking for a talented Senior Manager, Digital Marketing who will be responsible for overseeing the marketing function at Code for America.
About the Role:
This is a great opportunity if you both live and breathe analytics-driven decision-making but also are always trying to stay on top of the next creative opportunity in social and email marketing. You will join a brand marketing team that is focused on flawlessly presenting ourselves to funders and a government audience, projecting our thought leadership as a partner in civic technology.
This is a fantastic position for someone who has managed digital marketing in the past and is looking to take more ownership and drive decision-making, engagement, and growth across Code for America’s owned platforms. You will be in charge of managing the strategy, execution, and optimization across channels.
This role will report to the Director of Marketing and is expected to travel no more than 10% of the time.
In this Position You Will:
- Drive strategy and analysis:
- Develop and implement a strategic plan across email, social, paid, and earned media to reach/engage new and existing audiences effectively for all of our brand, program, and partnership initiatives
- Define platform-specific tone across our social media to optimize how we resonate with our followers.
- Serve as the Marketing and Communications team leader on all things analytics, bringing insights and creating KPIs for the team regularly to assist in our communications, blog, social, website, event promotion, and program team goals.
- Build and automate reports and effectively communicate insights with internal business leaders and external partners.
- Proactively surface potential problems and ideas for optimization within the marketing funnel.
- Elevate Code for America marketing:
- Serve as the key point of contact for Code for America’s email and social media marketing vendor, ensuring they are meeting KPIs and aligning with brand campaign needs.
- Lead the management of our paid and organic campaigns, ensuring they speak to our target audiences and effectively expand brand awareness.
- Work closely with our content team to determine strategies that resonate with the Code for America audience.
- Seek new, creative avenues for maximizing viewership of organic and paid campaigns.
- Identify and capitalize on emerging social and digital marketing trends to maximize our impact and ensure relevance.
- Continuously monitor the civic tech landscape to maintain our competitive edge and reinforce industry leadership.
- Work cross-functionally to achieve org-wide goals:
- Collaborate with program teams to develop a cohesive narrative and strategy for elevating Code for America thought leadership pieces.
- Partner with our Development and Growth and Partnerships teams to craft compelling campaigns that drive organizational strategy.

About You:
- Passion for the mission of Code for America
- Strong advocate for equity, inclusion, and uplifting marginalized voices
- 5+ years of experience in consumer marketing, digital marketing, or program marketing
- Proven track record of successfully managing integrated, cross-functional, sophisticated brand campaigns from scratch
- Experienced with CRM platforms (e.g., Hubspot, Salesforce), including platform maintenance to ensure optimization of contacts, lists, etc.
- Proficiency with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Advertising, Canva, Google Ads, etc.
- Experience in inspiring creative thinking and leading cross-functional teams to successful outcomes
- Experience in media planning and buying, lead generation and acquisition strategies
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage input and feedback from multiple stakeholders
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment; agency and/or startup experience a plus
- Ability to tackle complex problems with a strategic mindset and a thoughtful, creative, proactive approach
It’s a Bonus if You Have:
- Experience with government technology procurement
- Experience working in or closely with government or civic tech organizations
- Extensive multimedia experience
- Written and verbal fluency in Spanish

Salary:
Code for America’s salary bands are transparent as a part of our commitment to transparency and fairness. As part of our hiring practices, we aim to target the midpoint of the 2nd quartile of the range for all new hires.
Offer targets vary based on market / geographic location. The offer targets for this role range from $94,350 - $115,500, annually.

- Remote Work:
- Code for America employees may work remotely across the US
- Code for America employees main residence must be within the US
- Full-time employees work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
- Collaborative working hours: we aim to hold all internal meetings between 10 AM - 3 PM PT. We expect all Code for America staff to be available during these set working hours
- Time Off:
- Open personal time off, a minimum of 16 paid holidays, and an org-wide closure from Christmas Day through New Year's Day
- Paid sick time; up to 96 hours annually
- Competitive paid parental and family leave
- 4 weeks of paid sabbatical after 4 years of service, with an option of up to 4 additional weeks of unpaid time away
