Job description

 

Penguin Random House Publisher Services, committed to providing the highest level of sales and distribution to a wide variety of independent publishers of all sizes, seeks a Manager, Client Sales to work with a select portfolio of clients, with special focus on graphic novel, manga, comic book, and pop culture-centric publishers.

 

Strong candidates for this role should be able to nimbly adapt to shifting priorities, have a keen eye for sales analysis, and feel comfortable developing and managing relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. As part of a constantly-evolving team, this role will have the opportunity to learn and improve internal processes and systems and to develop expertise within the department.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manages the day-to-day relationships with publishers, along with trade and direct comics market sales teams, to track and manage priority titles, evaluate inventory needs, and share key marketing and publicity updates as needed.
  • Analyzes billings and point-of-sales data to provide publishers with thoughtful and strategic review of their business, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborates with publishers and sales teams to ensure materials needed for sell-in are provided in advance of sales calls.
  • Reviews and assesses the quality of sales materials provided and actively participates in sales meetings.

 

Please apply if you meet the following qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of account management experience, either in a client publisher services or sales role
  • Working knowledge of key trade and direct market accounts and marketplace trends
  • Strong understanding of and passion for the GN/manga/comics space with a desire to develop further expertise
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication to a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to think proactively about potential challenges and problems and to diagnose and implement solutions and process improvements
  • Familiarity and comfort working with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Powerpoint); proficiency in Excel

 

The salary for this position is $73,500.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
