What’s in Store 

We're on the lookout for a Operational Strategic Lead. As a Operational Strategic Lead, you will work closely with colleagues across the Enterprise to own and deliver a diverse range of strategic projects and initiatives to time, budget and quality, as set out by the Chief Transformation Officer and Group Executive team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Owner of key strategic initiatives under the Head of Operational Consulting, delivering against agreed timescales 
  • Responsible for overseeing all activities across a team focused on business objectives, ensuring the project team is delivering a quality service and following Davies process and methodologies 
  • Manage and communicate the delivery of the project by way of facilitating stakeholder meetings and developing and delivering business case and status update presentations to senior leadership.  
  • Manage to and achieve project budgets, both project cost and project expense outcomes, on time and within the identified scope of the initiative. 
  • Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
  • Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy 
  • Being a trusted advisor to senior management across the business 
  • Design and deliver rapid discovery and proof of concepts activities to unlock business opportunities or validate hypotheses 
  • Utilize problem solving and improvement techniques such as gap analysis, root cause analysis, impact assessments etc to propose recommendations and solutions to business issues 
  • Acquire data and use data analysis methods to develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), trends, insights, and predictive outcomes
  • Working hands-on with Davies colleagues to assess their function, people, and processes, making and executing recommendations for improvements
  • Collaborate with Davies colleagues to build suitable benefits cases
  • Leverage industry expertise, benchmarks, analytics-based insights and research to support business and benefits case creation
  • Coaching of business functions and BA to improve capability and cultural maturity
  • Support adoption of Business Process Mapping (BPM) tool and develop standards to support operational transformation

This role is a full-time, remote position.

  • Strong facilitation skills are a necessity and being comfortable contributing to discussions in a range of topics, such as IT, GenAI, Shared Services, etc. 
  • Analytical, requirements gathering, problem solving and process improvement skillset in a transformation focused environment 
  • Financial business case acumen, with ability to build soft and hard benefits case where initial data may not be available
  • Building of presentation materials (especially PowerPoint) with project stakeholders to a range of audiences, including senior management and investors
  • Facilitating Steering Committees for strategic projects 
  • Project management activities including stakeholder communication, planning and governance
  • Experience in delivering operational and technology focused process improvement projects including the development of automation 
  • Strong analytical, methodical problem solving and process improvement skillset in a transformation focused environment. 
  • Technical and system awareness to support IT change projects such as system migration, implementation, and consolidation activity 
  • Ability to effectively engage in discussions relating to operations, technical solutions, and financial and Information security details associated with work assignments 
  • Advantageous to be certified and experienced with executing Six Sigma projects (i.e. 6-sigma Green Belt, 6-sigma Black Belt, LEAN, Design for 6-Sigma, etc.)  
  • Experience in Business improvement methodologies such as Lean/Six sigma, Change Management, Business process analysis and mapping, Agile, Systems thinking or other relevant change methodologies beneficial but not necessary
