Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Healthcare  

Remote

Multi-site, Multi-state healthcare experience required. 

 

Job Overview: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a healthcare company plays a key role in overseeing the financial health and strategic direction of the organization. The CFO will lead the finance department, ensuring sound financial management, compliance with healthcare regulations, and strategic financial planning to support the organization’s growth and mission. This individual will collaborate with the CEO, Board of Directors, and other senior leaders to achieve financial objectives, manage financial risks, and optimize operational efficiencies in alignment with the organization’s goals.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Strategy & Planning:
  • Develop and implement long-term financial strategies to support the company’s growth and sustainability.
  • Lead the preparation of the annual budget, financial forecasts, and financial modeling.
  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the executive team and board on financial planning, risk management, and capital structure.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance:
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, and payer requirements).
    • Oversee all financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and budget reports.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, healthcare industry standards, and governmental regulations.
    • Manage the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with financial and regulatory standards.
  • Cash Flow Management & Financial Health:
    • Oversee cash flow management, ensuring liquidity to meet operational and strategic needs.
    • Develop and monitor cash flow forecasts, manage debt, and optimize working capital.
    • Implement financial controls to minimize financial risk and ensure the financial stability of the organization.
  • Revenue Cycle Management:
    • Work closely with revenue cycle management teams to optimize billing, collections, and reimbursement processes.
    • Ensure that the organization’s revenue cycle is efficient and compliant with payer contracts and healthcare reimbursement policies.
    • Analyze payer trends, reimbursement rates, and contractual obligations to identify areas of improvement.
  • Cost Management & Operational Efficiency:
    • Collaborate with senior leaders to identify cost-saving initiatives and implement processes to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.
    • Evaluate and oversee healthcare-related expenditures, including salaries, insurance, equipment, and facilities management.
    • Analyze financial data and healthcare performance metrics to drive decisions on cost control.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess financial risks, including regulatory changes, reimbursement policies, and operational challenges.
    • Develop risk management strategies and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
    • Lead the development of strategies to manage and mitigate financial, operational, and healthcare-specific risks.
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead and manage the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
    • Mentor, develop, and guide team members in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance.
    • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and other executives, providing financial insights and recommendations for decision-making.
  • Investor Relations & Stakeholder Communication:
    • Communicate financial results, strategies, and forecasts to the Board of Directors, investors, and key stakeholders.
    • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, lenders, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Mergers, Acquisitions, and Partnerships:
    • Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships, providing due diligence and financial analysis.
    • Support the negotiation and structuring of financial agreements related to M&A activities.
    Qualifications:

    Qualifications:

    • Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree in healthcare administration or finance is highly preferred.
    • Experience:
      • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role in the healthcare industry.
      • Multi-site, Multi-state experience required. 
      • Strong understanding of healthcare financial regulations, reimbursement models (e.g., fee-for-service, value-based care), and payer contracts.
      • Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in a healthcare environment.
      • Knowledge of healthcare IT systems, such as Electronic Health Records (EHR) and revenue cycle management platforms, is a plus.
      • NetSuite experience preferred
    • Certifications:
      • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or similar credentials preferred.
    • Skills:
      • Strong financial analysis, accounting, and financial reporting skills.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, clinical staff, and external partners.
      • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
      • Ability to think strategically and manage financial operations in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
      • Familiarity with financial software, ERP systems, and business intelligence tools.

    $200,000-$225,000
