Learning Opportunity:
The department of Adult Discipleship Resources oversees production of content that reaches thousands of churches and groups each week. The editors manage contributions from contracted writers, copyeditors, designers, and proofers to ensure that content meets the highest standards. An intern in this role would be have an opportunity to experience all stages of the publishing process, from contracting to proofing final content. This would be valuable experience for anyone interested in theological studies, publishing, journalism, or editing.
Internship Description:
Edit text from contractors and learn to layout the format using Adobe InDesign.
Proofs and fact-checks completed files for errors.
Builds files for layout and maintains an organized file structure.
Participates in weekly theology and style workshop.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Internship Requirements:
Formal Education: Current enrollment or at least one year year of graduate training in theology or a related field
Experience: Prefer editing experience or previous degree in English, journalism, theology, or biblical studies
Specialized Knowledge/Certification: Working understanding of biblical theology (historical focus), above average English writing and grammar proficiency, familiarity with Chicago or SBL Style
Equipment Knowledge: Microsoft Office, experience with Adobe InDesign helpful but not required
