Research Assistant – Telemedicine Quality Improvement
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support our efforts in analyzing telemedicine interventions that help close Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) and Medicare Star Ratings care gaps. This internship is ideal for students interested in healthcare analytics, public health, health informatics, or digital health innovation.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Assist in collecting and analyzing telemedicine utilization data to measure its impact on closing HEDIS and Star Rating care gaps (e.g., preventive screenings, chronic disease management).
Performance Tracking: Support the development of dashboards and reports that track quality improvement initiatives.
Research & Benchmarking: Conduct literature reviews and comparative analyses to assess best practices for virtual care quality improvement.
Collaboration: Work with clinical and operational teams to identify opportunities for telemedicine interventions that improve patient outcomes and healthcare quality metrics.
Process Optimization: Identify trends and propose recommendations for optimizing telemedicine workflows to enhance adherence to HEDIS and Star measures.
Presentation & Documentation: Prepare research summaries, presentations, and reports for internal stakeholders to inform decision-making.
Current undergraduate or graduate student in public health, healthcare, health informatics, data science, or a related field.
Strong analytical and research skills, with proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python, or R is a plus).
Knowledge of HEDIS, Star Ratings, or healthcare quality metrics is preferred but not required.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a team.
Hands-on experience with healthcare quality improvement and telemedicine analytics.
Exposure to real-world applications of data-driven decision-making in a healthcare setting.
Mentorship from experienced healthcare professionals.

Location: Remote role - must reside in Arizona
Start Date: May 19th, 2025
Work Authorization: One goal of this internship program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for roles with Cigna post-graduation.
