Job description

Job Description

The College of Law is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a 2-credit compressed-format course, Transnational Lawyering in the European Union, in our online JDInteractive program during the Summer 2025 term. Transnational Lawyering in the European Union introduces students to the distinctive legal culture, traditions, and practices of the European Union, and does so in comparison to the United States. Designed for future legal professionals, the course aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of cross-border, transnational lawyering through the lens of EU law. The course brings together future lawyers representing two legal traditions: the US common law system and the European (Polish and EU) civil law system. Students will gain practical, applied learning experiences, and engage in comparative analyses of substantive laws, legal education, and professional practices.

Qualifications

Candidates should have an excellent academic record and should hold a JD degree or its equivalent. At least 15 years of law school teaching experience is required. Candidates must also have the skills and abilities to effectively interact with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.

Job Specific Qualifications

Candidates must have substantial experience teaching at the law school level in both Europe and the United States. Demonstrated expertise in relevant areas of EU law and US law, experience leading group projects, and established networks with European courts, law firms, and NGOs, are required.

Responsibilities

  • Order the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Prepare lectures, projects and other student assignments.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meet all designated class periods.
  • Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to the College of Law and University regulations.
  • Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations
