The Subject Matter Expert (SME) will independently perform and support a team of professionals in the development, implementation, and management, and evaluation of major national communication and marketing programs, projects, and strategies for the lay and professional audiences. Perform a variety of Web and Social Media Services and Health Communications within OCOO.

This is a part-time position: 20 hours/ week; 4-5 hours/ day
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Subject Matter Expert (SME): $55- $60/hr
Pay commensurate with experience.
Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.
Assist in developing and implementing internal and external messaging through various mediums (email, web, fact sheets, presentations).
Support OCOO in updating CDC boards on analysis outcomes, project summaries, and customized communications.
Contribute to strategic initiatives, project planning, and process improvements.
Help collect, review, and distribute reports, ensuring business process improvements and effective communication of CDC program performance.
Support CDC’s reporting needs with guidance, process flows, and customized communications.
Collaborate with OCOO and CIOs to create, test, and distribute science-based products and messages for different audiences.
Work with SMEs to develop and adapt messaging aligned with health communication principles.
Provide expertise in public health communication plans and strategies.
Create web content, social media messages, and other materials based on communication strategies.
Manage social media engagement, ensure compliance with regulations, and establish new channels as needed.
Liaise with internal/external partners, monitor work progress, and ensure quality.
Assist with media responses, collaborate with designers to produce materials, and present health communication briefings to various groups.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) Experience, Education, Skills, and Abilities requested:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
5+ years of experience working with C-suite leaders scheduling calendars, and planning large leadership conference calls.
Strong experience working with digital media channels.
Knowledge of health and risk communication principles (giving clear and simple communication, including during an emergency, providing actionable information)
Skilled at multitasking in emergency or time-sensitive situations.
Expertise in developing, writing, and editing health communication materials.
Able to advise and prepare and present controversial reports on the program’s status to senior management officials.
Skilled at applying various laws, regulations, policies, and precedents that affect the use of programs and related support resources.
Knowledgeable in conducting detailed analyses of functions and work processes; and presenting recommendations for improvements and corrective action.
Must be proficient in current Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint programs.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to present findings and recommendations to leadership, and diverse stakeholders internal and external to the CDC
Collaboration and teamwork skills to work and lead effectively with cross-functional teams.
