Contract Type: Permanent.

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for developing sector-leading administration processes and services, while leading and empowering a dynamic team to deliver a high-quality student experience? We are looking for an exceptional Director of Student Records & Assessment to join our ULaw team.

In this key role, reporting directly to the Registrar (an Executive Board member), you will provide strategic leadership of the Student Records & Assessment department, ensuring it achieves its objectives in order to support the overall strategy of the Department and the University’s Registry function, while providing an excellent customer and staff/student experience.

You will be at the forefront of this important area, acting as the institutional expert and recognised authority on matters and issues within the University relating to student records and assessments, and you will actively contribute to, and assist with, the strategic development of this and the University’s overall Registry function.

This is a particularly exciting time to join the University in this role as we have ambitious plans for the future, in both our existing and new markets, and have committed to a step-change in how we operate to set us up for our next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities include (not limited to):

  • Strategic Leadership: You will be providing strategic direction for the department. This includes providing expert advice, informing, influencing, and making strategic and operational decisions. You will also be engaging in national discussion, debate and development of student records and assessment related matters.
  • Assessment Coordination and Delivery: Ensuring assessments are delivered and administered efficiently and effectively and in compliance with assessment regulations, as well as ensuring that the assessment calendar is developed to define assessment dates relating to delivery, marking, moderation, external examiner scrutiny, examination boards and results publication.
  • Service Excellence Champion: Ensuring the Department provides an excellent customer service, including data and information relating to students and alumni; modules, courses and programmes; progression and graduation eligibility. You will also be working with colleagues to ensure continuous improvement is aligned with the changing needs and expectation of students and regulators.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensuring the student record continues to support the University’s obligations for statutory reporting and liaising with the Quality Assurance & Academic Standards department, where appropriate, to ensure that policies and protocols are up to date and fit for purpose. You will also ensure that all systems, processes and procedures are fully documented, approved as appropriate.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Management experience gained in a student administration department, (or equivalent where transferable skills/experience can be demonstrated).
  • Expert knowledge of student records and assessments related policy, perspectives and processes for UK Higher Education.
  • Experience working within the requirements of the OfS regulatory framework.
  • The ability to understand complex regulations, interpret difficult cases and provide consistent advice.
  • A self-starter with high personal motivation with high-level of planning and organisation skills.
  • Candidates committed to improving the student experience.

The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Sunday 9th March 2025. Interviews will take place on Thursday 20th March 2025.
