Job Summary:
The Outpatient Coding Manager will oversee the daily operations of our outpatient and professional coding department and ensure the accurate and compliant coding of outpatient medical records. The Outpatient Coding Manager will be responsible for leading a team of outpatient coders developing and implementing coding policies and procedures, and collaborating with healthcare providers and other stakeholders to optimize coding processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in outpatient coding, extensive knowledge of coding systems and healthcare regulations, including injection and infusion coding, professional coding, claim edits, and exceptional leadership and communication skills.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
A minimum of 3 years of progressive outpatient coding leadership HIM experience is required. Epic and other vendor/system experience (3M 360); Experience working for an Academic Medical Center and/or multi-hospital system; Proficient in various computer applications, including Microsoft products; Excellent communication, organizational, project management, analytical, presentation and decision-making skills are required. A minimum of 5 years of outpatient coding leadership experience is preferred. Prior experience as a Coding manager is preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
An Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology or equivalent is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Health Information Administration, or other related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Registered Health Information (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is preferred.
