As the Product Marketing Lead for the IoT vertical, you will own the go-to-market strategy, drive marketing and sales alignment, and enable high-touch enterprise deals through a Sales-Led motion on top of existing PLG/developer lead motion. You will develop packaging and messaging that resonate across IoT verticals, with a focus on energy and industrial sectors.
You will also play a key role in understanding the IoT technology ecosystem, identifying strategic partners, and advising on alliances that expand our market presence. You will collaborate with sales, product, and marketing teams to develop comprehensive GTM strategies, focusing on how to market and how to sell into various IoT verticals. You’re the DRI (directly responsible individual) for the IoT vertical and you own the outcome and numbers.
Additionally, you will be a thought leader in IoT, writing and publishing industry insights and representing Timescale at conferences, including both IT and OT-focused events. This role involves up to 25% travel for industry events, partnerships, and customer engagements.
Market Leadership
What you will be responsible for in this role:
- Act as the IoT subject matter expert, with a strong focus on energy and industrial IoT markets.
- Define messaging, positioning, and packaging of Timescale solutions for various IoT verticals.
- Identify key strategic partnerships within the IoT technology ecosystem and provide guidance on how to collaborate and integrate.
Sales-Led & Go-to-Market Strategy
- Develop and execute a sales-led GTM strategy on top of existing developer motion, aligning marketing, sales, and partnership efforts.
- Support enterprise sales teams, providing messaging, collateral, and sales enablement materials for high-touch deals.
- Work closely with sales leadership to refine outreach, positioning, and deal strategy for enterprise IoT buyers.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that drive pipeline generation and revenue growth in IoT markets.
Collaboration & Sales Enablement
- Work directly with sales teams to support sales calls (when they need a subject matter expert), refine messaging, and close deals.
- Develop multi-channel campaigns to engage IoT decision-makers across marketing and sales touchpoints.
- Rally internal teams around strategic IoT-focused initiatives, ensuring execution across functions.
Experimentation & Optimization
- Collaborate with marketing to test and refine multi-channel strategies (digital, social, offline) to optimize reach and conversion in IoT markets.
- Use data-driven insights to measure GTM effectiveness and improve sales and marketing ROI.
Thought Leadership & Representation
- Write thought leadership content (blogs, industry reports, whitepapers) to position Timescale as an authority in IoT.
- Represent Timescale at industry events, webinars, and conferences—on both the IT and OT sides of IoT.
- Build and leverage an IoT industry network to support business growth.
- Travel up to 25% to participate in industry engagements, partner meetings, and key sales opportunities.
You Could Be a Great Fit If
- 5+ years in a GTM role (solutions architect, evangelist, product marketing) or management consulting role with at least 2 years in product marketing.
- Proven experience in IoT, with a focus on energy and industrial markets.
- You’re “technical” and happy working with developers and IT personnel in IoT and can talk shop with OT technical/manufacturing floor folks.
- Strong understanding of sales-led enterprise deals, with hands-on experience supporting sales teams and engaging with customers.
- Established presence in the IoT industry, with thought leadership experience (e.g., blogs, industry articles, speaking engagements).
Skillset
- Deep expertise in Sales-Led GTM strategy, particularly for enterprise and high-touch deals for IoT
- Ability to develop sales enablement materials, supporting outbound sales efforts and strategic accounts.
- Strong multi-channel marketing skills (digital, social, field marketing, and events).
- Ability to work cross-functionally, aligning sales, marketing, and product teams.
Domain Expertise
- Deep knowledge of the IoT technology ecosystem, including key players, trends, and partnerships.
- Understanding of both IT and OT sides of IoT and their respective roles in industrial and energy sectors.
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with developers and manufacturing buyers.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communicator, capable of engaging both technical and business audiences.
- Comfortable speaking at industry events and representing the company externally.
- Data-driven, analytical, and results-oriented—focused on measurable GTM success.
