Job description

This role in a nutshell:

We are looking for a Transformation Director to lead the large-scale transformation of our business. We are radically changing our ways of working to put customers and technology at the core, and to drive agility and innovation into our day-to-day practices.

This will transform our technology function, but your focus will be on the significant impacts on our business and operations practices, as well as our functional and large-scale operations. 

Some critical elements of change are being accelerated with tech leading the way. But as we embark on this transformation we need a colleague who can work across our teams and collective plans to drive a coordinated programme, and to ensure that all parts of our business are moving towards a single blueprint, at a rapid pace.

The ideal candidate will understand how modern tech-led companies work.. And bring a track record of bringing technology focused transformations to life in operational and commercial environments. They will have successfully led a number of successful transformation programmes in complex, rapidly evolving environments.

Your key outcomes will be:

Digital Transformation Experience 

  • Translates the digital transformation journey into a practical terms and impacts that can be understood by non-technical stakeholders - leading strategy through to execution across all areas of OVO
  • Maps out the impacts of long term digital change to establish a benefits view, and future state organisational design 
  • Develops frameworks for measuring transformation progress and value realization across business units based on digital shifts

 

Transformation Excellence

  • Leads the end-to-end transformational strategy and journey, ensuring alignment with business and team objectives
  • Establishes and maintains a transformation PMO that provides visibility, and coordination across all change initiatives; supports as appropriate; and provides an independent view of progress, challenges and opportunities
  • Develops and maintains an integrated transformation roadmap that coordinates technical, operational, and cultural change, and sets the expectation of delivery timelines
  • Develops and embeds governance frameworks that ensure sustainable transformation and regulatory compliance
  • Defines key targets, milestones and outcomes (or measurement frameworks) to monitor the transformation
  • Supports overall delivery and success against plans and targets (including Customer Excellence, Regulatory requirements, Efficiency, Agility, Automation etc.) by working across teams and providing “check and challenge”
  • Identifies critical blindspots and works with the business to bridge them
  • Challenges assumptions in the business and uses data and principle driven decision making to evolve the organisation, prioritise transformation effort, and drive value
  • Balances speed of transformation with quality outcomes
  • Brings in the right internal specialists & external consultants to bring the best knowledge and drive the right outcomes for OVO

 

Leadership and Culture

  • Builds a collaborative environment that brings in stakeholders to ensure all views are heard and the best solution or outcome is achieved
  • Builds and leads a high-performing transformation team that combines internal talent with external expertise where needed
  • Creates an environment of psychological safety where constructive challenge and debate are encouraged
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and learning, ensuring lessons from both successes and failures are captured and applied
  • Develops strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the business, building trust and credibility
  • Mentors and coaches leaders across the organization to build change management capabilities
  • Champions new ways of working while respecting and preserving valuable elements of existing culture
Change and Communication
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive change management strategy that drives adoption and sustainable behavioral change
  • Creates clear, compelling narratives that help all stakeholders understand the "why," "what," and "how" of transformation
  • Establishes effective two-way communication channels to gather feedback and address concerns early
  • Ensure ongoing communications and updates to key stakeholders; including the OVO Leadership Team
  • Builds and maintains a network of change champions across the organization
  • Ensures consistent messaging while tailoring communication approaches for different audiences
  • Manages stakeholder expectations through transparent progress reporting and early escalation of risks/issues

Required Experience and Capabilities

Technical Knowledge
  • Deep understanding of technology led organizations and working practices (e.g. digital product development and delivery and cross-functional working with other functions)
  • Experience with agile/lean methodologies and their application in non-technical contexts
Leadership Experience
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale, complex digital and people centred transformation programs
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities
  • History of building and developing high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change without direct authority
Business Acumen
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of value drivers
  • Experience in linking transformation initiatives to measurable business outcomes
  • Track record of making and defending difficult decisions based on data and principles
  • Understanding of regulatory environments and compliance requirements
Personal Qualities
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinking combined with practical execution capabilities
  • Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to be directive when needed
