Dotdash Meredith is seeking an extremely organized Managing Editor for the Dotdash Meredith Travel Marketing (DDMTM) team to support one of their Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) clients. DDMTM is responsible for the strategy and execution of the client’s content marketing program, including, but not limited to: printed publications, digital website content, email marketing, podcast, video marketing, and social media.
The Managing Editor should have exceptional writing and editing skills, with proven experience managing both print and digital content workflows. Superlative written and communication skills are mandatory, along with an innate understanding of which content works on different platforms.
While this is a fully remote position, the ideal candidate will be based in California.

Role Responsibilities:
Support the Editorial Director with day-to-day content operations for print and digital platforms, ensuring timely delivery.
Edit all content for accuracy, tone, voice, and quality standards.
Develop ideas for stories and formats on all platforms and manage the editorial calendar.
Assign stories and manage and grow a team of freelancers.
Develop and improve on existing processes to increase efficiency and productivity.
Maintain proficiency of SEO best practices to optimize digital content; monitor analytics and performance metrics.
About the Contributions:
70% - Write, edit, and assign digital and print magazine content; manage a team of freelance writers; ensure deadlines are met and deliverables are tracked
20% - Collaborate with other internal teams (social, email) to improve content quality and processes and develop ongoing editorial calendars
10% - Administrative oversight on projects
Role Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in journalism or communications, or equivalent work experience
5+ years experience in editorial roles, preferably within travel, lifestyle, or related industries
A strategic thinker with a proven track record of creating content that increases traffic and engagement by using an analytics-driven approach.
Strong writing and editing skills, excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail.
Strong background in digital journalism and familiarity with current digital tools and platforms.
Ability to respond quickly and juggle multiple projects and priorities.
Experience with SEO, content management systems, and analytics.
An idea generator who can think of new, fresh ways to package content.
Experience with Adobe programs (especially InDesign), Google and Microsoft workspace apps (Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint) as well as platforms such as Google Analytics.
Previous client-facing agency experience is a plus.
Travel required: 10%

Pay Range
Salary: Remote: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
