Senior Field Service Superintendent Engineer, 4-stroke

 

Parts and Field Service is now looking for an enthusiastic Senior Field Service Superintendent Engineer to join our skilled team in the United States of America.

What will you be doing?

 

The position is open to experienced applicants, to fully support external and internal customers in the region, as well as various other time zones. Remote work is available for qualified candidates.

 

This position reports to the Coordinator Field Service Resources.

 

Candidates are expected to display a high level of critical thinking and reasoning skills, identify as high performers, as well as being self-motivating.

 

Accountabilities:

 

In this position, you will perform Service activities (such as troubleshooting, inspections, overhauls and repairs) on 4-stroke marine diesel engines. You will also oversee and coordinate field service resources and activities at project sites, ensuring efficiency and customer satisfaction.

 

For us to be the best match, we expect you to have significant technical experience in reciprocating engine repair and overhaul.

 

You will also have a safety-first attitude.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinates and supervises field service projects, acting as a leading technical expert in the field, planning activities, and managing resources and schedules to meet customer requirements.
  • Conducts field audits to assess field service capabilities and operations, ensuring alignment with plans and customer expectations.
  • Provides expert technical guidance and support to field service teams, ensuring adherence to quality standards and processes. Mentors and develops field service personnel, promoting skill enhancement and professional growth.
  • Manages communication between field location and the company to ensure up-to-date shared awareness of activities, efficient coordination and decision making.
  • Acts as a primary point of contact for customers, sharing information, identifying and resolving customer needs, and fostering strong customer relationships.
  • Perform advanced mechanical, as well as electronic & automation and system integration related troubleshooting on 4-stroke engines and ancillary equipment.
  • Interact professionally with customers during the work execution.
  • Commissioning of service products.
  • Perform internal and external progress status of the assigned work.
  • Assistance in creating the Service Work Reports.
  • Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines and site procedures.
  • Follow-up and report on the status of work orders to customers and/or internal stakeholders.
  • Continuously seek solutions according to best practices.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

 

  • Relevant technical education or qualifications as a combination of education and experience.
  • 15+ years technical experience in reciprocating engine repair and overhaul with practical problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in installation, operation and maintenance of turbochargers, pumps, heat exchangers, fuel systems, lubrication systems, cooling systems.
  • Interact professionally and deliver solutions to customers during the work execution.
  • Expert level experience on medium speed 4-stroke engines.
  • Experience in working with electrical systems beneficial.

Travel Requirements:

 

This position requires a 80% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international, including onshore and offshore locations. The role demands adaptability to varying travel demands, with an expectation of extended periods away from the primary work location. Prospective candidates should be prepared to fulfill these travel obligations as an integral aspect of the position's responsibilities.
